ATC Central - The Learning Zone: Walkthough: A Mixed Media Frida Kahlo card

First, I was going through my box of cancelled stamps, in search of some for a collage project. I came across these adorable Donkeys, and then a Cinco de Mayo stamp....which, naturally, made me think of Mexico, and Frida Kahlo. I dug out a few more stamps that could also have a Spanish flair, and cut 2 ATC bases. I pasted the stamps down, envelope scraps tattered and all.

When they were set, I used watercolors to put a quick and random wash over it all. It gave the stamps, background base, and paper a more uniform feel. (FYI, these are just cheap-o Kid's Crayola Watercolors).

When dry, I just freehand painted on a loose gestural image of Frida, using india ink. I added a bit of highlight with white paint pen. Voila, done.
