    Lightbulb Wanted: Plant drawers for a surprise project (until 28 February)

    Flowers for Elisabeth

    Hello dear Mail Art community,

    I am looking for lots of people who love to paint / sketch the garden plants which are listed below - no matter whether ATC size, Inchies, or a simple charcoal sketch in postcard size (4x6 inch).

    Why?

    My mother, a former plant artist/ gardener, has her birthday on 28 February. Unfortunately, painting is no longer possible due to her illness, but she is always very happy to follow all my art-swapping. So I had the idea to collect her works from many different artist to her favorite subject and bind them to a book together.

    In return, I would love to make you an ATC from your wishing list or exchange for products from my printing workshop (bookmarks, jute bags, ... will post some pictures here later
    ). For people who do not like my style of ATCs, the exchange of drawing-material would be an alternative.

    Conditions:
    • Use of classical media (acrylic, watercolor, oil, coal, gouache) or craft cards (pretty paper combinations also meet her taste)
    • Your signature on the front (I will most likely bind so that you can not see the backs and she shourely wants to know from whom each surprise comes from
    • natural scenes (for example she wouldn't like an elf or a dragon on a flower, but she will LOVE a butterfly, a small garden bird, a lantern, or a British cottage in the background)
    • Your work will land here at the latest by February 26, as the book has to go on a long journey to my parents house

    List of favorite plants: [they may also occur twice in the book]

    Hi Maiken,
    I would love to paint for your dear mother. I have only gone partially through the list but I have painted some Kirschblüten (jap. 桜, sakura) before so I think I would most likely do those or perhaps Schneeglöckchen - snowdrop if you'll have me.

    By postcard size do you mean 4x6 inch or 5x7 inch? And does it need any border left around the edge for your binding process?

    I'd love to paint your mother a flower!!

    Do you know if any you listed are also known as a Gerber daisy, a peach blossom, a magnolia or a cosmos? If so, I can send 1 or more now.

    If not, I will be very glad to research and paint her one of the others on your list.

    I'll also PM you. BTW I LOVE your style, so get ready to send me a painting. Heehee :-)

    Welcome, welcome! Lovely to have also some far-far-away-painters on board!

    @Pabkins I think 4x6 inch and no, it doesn't need any border left, i will shape a buckle in each page, so that every drawing is framed by the page himself.

    @ KPinAK Haha, yeah, I'm quite struggeling with some translations, but I've googelt you each one and have put the link behind it. Cosmos and peach blossom are on the top-favorite-list but she also likes Gerber daisy and magnolia. So, feel free to paint whatever inspires you most.

    Thanks to you we have now already 21 participians (:

    How strict are you on traditional mediums? I could do the Angel Geranium, but I tend to be more mixed media (colored pencil, ink, marker, etc). I could do a watercolor base, but I've never done an entire painting in just watercolor before.

    @DanielleMWilliams
    Well, she just loves the old traditional look that paintings have. But although you use mixed media, it still looks traditional to the viewer, so in your case it should be fine. Would be lovely to have you in the project!

    I would be honored to paint some flowers for your mother. I think the roses. Do you need to know for sure which flowers I will paint? I may change my mind before I am done. Also, there is no need to make me a return, you will have a lot of those to make and I will catch you for a trade at a later time.

    @waughtercolors
    You can surely change your mind, it's just an orientation for the other painters, so that we don't have a book of only roses at the end.

    Thanks for giving me a bit of space, but as most from the german sides swap against already finished products from me it should be possible soon.

    I wish you all happy hollidays!

    Do you have anyone making roses? If not I will pick roses. If you have too many than I can do something else.

    Lovely to have you on the team, emmadreamstar
    I was on an artist meetup this weekend where a loooooooot of people gave me their finished drawings, so the book is now already halfway done. I'm quite excited how much my mother will like it!

    Thank you for having me! I will get to painting it right away, so it has plenty of time to be mailed to you before the deadline. And that is such awesome news that you got so many finished pieces over the weekend! Glad it is coming together!
