I've got an idea for this swap and will play with the idea this weekend. If it pans out, I'd love to join.

Hey you guys!! I actually seen this swap earlier, just been holding off till I got some of my other commitments done. Free time for me has been a bit of a b!@(#, so I'm trying not to spread myself to thin.

I'd love to make some Coyote cards...I even have a few ideas that I might be able to put onto paper.

Thanks for inviiting me....so keep a warm spot for me please!

Have added you happily; also can't wait to see what you come up with!

We still have plenty of time to add some players to our Mythic Coyote/Trickster swap! Anyone else? Am I gonna have to write you all some private messages?? Hmm?? Don't make me now!
A lot of you actually do these things all the time.. like Anne.. an Indian man with an image of Crow or Raven or Coyote around his head like a halo.. I can 'see' the card; heck, you probably already have some made!
And then anyone who reads Charles de Lint's books would have an inside track on this too!
    Who else?

and how is everyone doing on their cards?
I received some lovely coyote cards yesterday from Canuckdesz, safe and sound in their temporary home..

I have ideas for mine too, but haven't started them yet.. doesn't life just raise its ugly head too much sometimes???
And remember, these don't have to be ~coyotes.. it's the MYTH we're talking about.. the Trickster, so Loki, Spider, Anansi, all those are also part of this swap (and all their human AND animal forms..)

There are so many options! I have only firmed up one so far; trying to narrow down two more.

I have made four Cards of trickster Tales!

I am very happy with how they turned out. I wouldn't be surprised if I was actually guided by a Trickster energy to complete these.
I have them show up often in my life, and I know all the stories. I usually tell them around campfires in October. There are so many "prometheus" stories about tricksters, and I love each variation.

Here is Brer Rabbit (I am a Splash Mountain junkie, so there's a passing nod to Disney in it)
and Coyote stealing fire, and bringing it to the People
and A Japanese kitsune fox spirit, shapeshifting at dawn,
and Waan the crow maan from the Aboriginal Australian tales, flinging his boomerang towards the sun

Robyn, those are EXACTLY what I had in mind for this swap... and a wonderful, diverse group you've made too!
It'll be cool to see this in person.. I'll pm my address to you.

Here's what I came up with. I tried to incorporate some of the symbols that coyote stories have in them.

Mary, those are NOT what I had in mind.. however, the ideas behind swaps are to see how each person/artist interprets the 'task'.. and I think you did Wonderfully!! Godlike images, mythic/mystic images, all incorporate the 'task' I have inflicted on you all..
I like what you did, and would give extra points for going into old old imagery..
So, your task is done, then! and you did WELL..

OOOh...I like those Mary! They are stunning in their design!

Wish I hadn't waited so long...I want to do more cards now.

I want to draw Monkey, and Fudugazi, the tortoise, and Papa Legba, the Voodoo Loa!

maybe I can just do them anyway...before Spring comes!

oh...and thanks Meran...I just picked up the book on Amazon. I think I need it!

I think they are way cool!
With a theme like this, there has to be a huge variety of interpretations and approaches. So much creative room.

Not me, I'm in. But they're going in the mail tomorrow. I redid the Coyote at night card. I just couldn't bear sending it, just didn't like it.

For some reason, I was thinking they were due the 1st of April.
    Should I send it priority?
