Do any of you lovelies in group two mind if I change my theme to goofy zombies? They can be gory and gross, but I'd like them to be a little silly, however you want to do that.

Mupps, I don't mind! Happy to make zombies or pigs or whatever anyone wants. No worries here.

I'm with Amerasu. Zombies or Robots. Both sound fun.

Awesome! As long as Anne has no objection, please change me to goofy zombies and then I will go sit quietly in the corner and change nothing else.

Found this set for only $12.50+ s/h! http://russian-crafts.com/nesting-do...atryoshka.html

And I think it would be a great shape to work with.

Unless I receive a PM from any of you tonight showing that you've found them cheaper, I'll order tomorrow am!

Wow so much discussion I have missed! There does not seem to me any objection to my angry birds or mario brothers theme so I am going to. Go with that . Am I allowed to request that they not all be the red cardinal?

Jude, check shipping charges and total price. It still might be cheaper if the shipping is HUGE.

About the landscapes : anyone have a problem with it? It doesn't have to be realistic,,, landscape of the mind is cool, a Dali type is cool, outer space (as in the surface of Jupiter with a moon showing makes it a landscape) is tré cool, sticks on the biggest doll is fine (as long as it can be handled!!)

What I did with mine last time was lightly sand the bodies. Also, I sanded the connections. They were VERY TIGHT! My big one, which I did, sometimes still doesn't open easily. I have to twist it to get it open!! And I was careful. This is Oregon: wood swells here!! I did a light primer on mine, no starch was needed, but I used acrylic paint. Some people used colored pencils ( making sure all wood was covered).

I also have clear gesso. It'd be cool if the wood could be seen. ( maybe. Depends on subject.)

According to every site I read, you really need to sand, starch, sand, then gesso (clear is cool). There is something about the wood used that needs to be starched. But starching is easy - you just mix with water, put on with your hands, and wait about 30 min for it to dry.

HELLO Everyone! I'm back from my retreat - so much to share when I get the chance.

Anne says the dolls are here! YAH! Give me just a few days to get settled back, and I'll start shipping them out. VERY exciting!
