Hey Everyone, I'm not sure if I can host a swap like this here or not... it's not really p&p or mma... i'm not even sure if anyone would even be interested... but, I think it would be a lot of fun.
Right now i'm into making ornate keys... not for jewelry or people to wear, but more for framing and wall art.
The only guideline would be we all have to start with a skeleton key as the base, and go from there.
What i'm thinking is we would break into groups of three within the swap and make keys for everyone in our group... kind of like a PAT... I dunno... just a thought, and would like to hear what others think.
Here is one I just made (it still isn't completely finished, but just to kind of give you an idea) it's aprox 5.5" h x 3.5" w

WOW! That looks fantastic! I'd be interested, but I'm not sure where to get those keys..I haven't seen them at Lowe's...where did you get yours?
Thanks Cathy and Annie! ^_^
Annie, Michael's has a variety of skeleton keys in the jewelry making section... but you can get skeleton keys at most jewelry/bead shops... or antique stores sometimes sell them, too. Can I host something like this on here?? I'm not sure what it would be classified as since it's not p&p or mma. It's like.... faux metal-smithing, lol.

Matt, did you solder, or glue the elements on? It looks great.
Thanks, Dragonfly!!! I went the easy route and used E6000 on this one. I may solder the next ones and see which method I prefer... but so far, the glue is holding up nicely.

Matt, if you have a few keys made, you can apply for the MMA devision so you can host the swap. Basically you trade for what you get approved for, so if you want to trade other altered items and have photos, you could add them to your portfolio.
How many pieces of mma do I need in my portfolio to apply? My computer crashed earlier this year and I lost everything... I do not have any photos of my past art pieces, which is my fault for not backing anything up, and makes me terribly sad... but I can upload more photos of the keys I have recently made... or I can make some more mma pieces and then try.

You need about 7-10 images. I'm so sorry about your computer crashing! That happened to me once a number of years ago. Thankfully I had a number of my images uploaded to other galleries, but I did loose a lot.
It sucked pretty bad... because I lost all of my previous art photos from trades, and all my documents. Some which were articles and what not that I had done and planned on utilizing in my portfolio. Like I said, though, my bad for not backing up! lol.

I would totally join, so get that portfolio together.. lol!
I would definitely join Matt but I'd also have to apply for the MM category.
I swap altered keys in the atcs site now and have a huge collection. Love them.
Wish upon a star!
I would have to apply to the MM too (I have been too chicken!) But I would love to join as well! I have a collection of skeleton keys, and have altered some already!
