I have a couple of questions. I know what an altered book is but what does it mean here? Actually a regular size book decorated front and back and inside tooooo? The altered books I've worked with take forever and are huge when finished. And how many pages make a chunky book? how many pages are a fair number for a nice gift? I have a nice 3-day weekend coming up and want to get some things accomplished.....help!! Thanks.

Anyone have some suggestions for Annette on the chunky book? I don't have a clue. The only chunky stuff I have is pages collected individually so that's not helpful.

For the altered book, I'd assume just the cover and then leave the pages inside for people to do what they want? I'm not sure here either having never received an altered book at Secret Santa.

I did have one as a present, not here. It was one of those chunky type of toddler books, all altered, about 6 pages or so.

If I was making someone a whole chunky book for a gift, I'd probably have a decorated cover and back cover, and 4+ pages in between.. maybe 3 if they tied together in some cute way. Buuut you could also make someone a chunky book shell, like a cover and back cover and one page on a theme that they can use for later trades to fill in.

another question. If I create designs is it appropriate to trace (not copy) the designs but color all idividually?

I received an altered book for a Secret Santa. She took an old song book, saved the cover, but replaced the inside pages with high end drawing pages. Then altered the cover, added a neat old key, and tons of dangles to make it fun. Wish I could post a photo - but I've already packed it.
