Thread: Human Figures, due June 15, 2010

  1. #1

Default Human Figures, due June 15, 2010

    Swap Due Date - June 15, 2010
    Signup/withdraw date - Whatever-just let me know
    Number of Cards - 3/3
    Number of participants -unlimited

This swap is all about the most glorious of forms That's right, the human figure! Torsos, heads, legs; abstract, realistic, funky...have at it! I just hosted one of these at AFA, and it was loads of fun... Here are a couple of examples by me...

    Sending Info:
    • When your cards are ready, please PM me or post in the thread for my address.
    • US players: Please send an ADDRESS LABEL (or a piece of paper with your address CLEARLY written on it)--NO ENVELOPE, with at LEAST 44 cents loose postage for 3/3. I will be using my own envelopes due to all the problems arising from oversized and undersized envelopes that I've encountered in my previous swaps.
    • International and Canadian participants must send an address label (NO ENVIES PLEASE!). I would greatly appreciate a US $1 if you can send it, or international postage stamp from your country to help cover the costs. An extra card is a nice bonus, too, but not required.
    • Be sure to include your cards in some sort of protective covering--a baseball card sleeve works nicely, but is by no means the only thing out there!

    Media and Card Specs:
Put your screenname on the backs of your cards (to make sure the other artists know whose work they received and so I don't give you your OWN cards back!)
All cards MUST be 2.5''x3.5'' in size or I will reject them.

    Regarding Withdraws and Late Cards:
I don't mind if you have to withdraw, but please be considerate and either say so via PM or in the swap thread. Mail often takes 2 weeks to get to me, EVEN IN THE US, so please plan accordingly.

When you receive your cards for the swap, remember to leave iTrader for the Host (me) and Rep Points for the people you received cards from!

I will be leaving iTrader when I receive your cards to let you know they've arrived. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask me.

Last, but not least, have fun and enjoy making your cards! Thanks for considering the Human Figures swap!

This sounds like a lot of fun! Let me have a go at the cards before I join, but I have a good feeling about this!

Ok, well since there's been almost ZERO interest. I thought I'd widen the horizon and do this including men.

Yeah, that's weird! Figure swaps are usually pretty good for sign-ups!

Yeah, I know! Maybe it's been too soon since the last one. Or everyone hates me HAHA. That's ok, I'll be happy to trade with you, Sal, LOL. I'll have to beg malin and maybe edensrainbow and siren... I made the due date as far in advance as the 90-day thing allows. Do we even have to hold to that over here?

I´ve sketched 1½ cards, and they look ok - I think I can safely say that you can sign me up! See - no twisted arms! But twist ER and Siren by all means, I´d love to see cards from them!

From what I can tell, almost everyone is busy lately, lol!

We have 5 months here so you could go to Aug/Sept if you wanted.

WHAT?! That's cool! I think I'll extend the Sci-Fi swap, then. And I'll wait to see if anyone says the due date is bad for them for this one. I sent out an arm-twisting (ok, not really) email, so maybe that will draw some folks in? I think everyone is busy too. But, Sal, YOU join all the swaps, so they should join MY swaps, HAHA.

    I don't think I am hosting a figure swap...am I? LOL

    YAAY!!!!!!!

Well, originally it was a female figures swap, which was mighty close to your femininity swap but I've since changed it, teehee. I'm so glad you joined. I love your work!

I´m still pretending it´s a female figures swap, and I actually have all cards but one sketched up... This is fun! Oh, and a quick tip if you (like me) need bodies to draw - I´ve got a Suicide Girls book (they are also on the net, suicidegirls.com), which is basically pinups with tattoos and piercings.

Me, too, malin. I HATE drawing men. Their bodies are all hard lines and angles. I prefer the soft curves... At least for drawing...

I'm not fond of drawing men either but I love to collect figure drawings of men. I hate it when we get a man in life drawing sessions unless he's all muscled and ripped. And that almost never happens, lol. Women are easier, especially when they have a rounder body with some folds, Rubenesque is best I guess.

Isn´t that the strangest thing - I´m on the Rubenesque side myself, and I´m not liking it, but I love big women in art, I think it´s so beautiful. Well, actually - since I´ve started painting chubby girls, I have a bigger appreciation for my own body.

Yeah, it's weird how comfortable some people are being naked in front of a group. I have a "live art model" book and most of the men are... well, not attractive. LOL. My husband said they are all well-endowed... maybe that's why they are more comfy, LOL.

It's true I think!!! I have yet to see a male model with a small penis. They're all somewhat well hung in my sessions.
