Default Veterok's sketchbook & project thread

I think I'd like to give this thread idea a try, we'll see.. Today I've been mostly just laughing at my old sketches and doodles so I'd like to share a few! (These are from my Flickr account and I don't know how to post them with links to Flickr so eventually they'll probably start showing the stupid Flickr no can do banners. Duh!)

Those are cool Elina! Thanks for sharing them. The eskimo-looking guy is cool and the deer head, and the man pushing the boulder, and...well there are so many! Just curious, is there a particular reason why the one guy has the big X across his mouth?

Thanks! Don't really know about the X, but it might have been some random association to a Finnish album cover, http://www.turkku.com/graf/lp/leevi_suutele_big.jpg

Now when I look at these I start to think some of them would be cool in ATC size, the Siberian gentleman especially. It really amazes me how I was able to draw something so patient/detailed only a couple of years ago. Nowadays I just get frustrated so easily!

    Love it! Keep posting more

I really like how some of your pages have so much writing and lettering. It makes things even more interesting. Sort of like a journal.

Really dig the figure drawings. Gorgeous.

Yeah, I've never really drawn the line between sketchbook and journal so all my sketchbooks are journals and journals are sketchbooks..!
I hope this thread inspires me to sketch more in the future, at the moment I'm still combing through my old sketches and scans (more to come...)

Yeah, I get you.. mine are filled with notes. Of course, they aren't in some lovely foreign language

Great work. It's wonderful to see these, it's like watching them being made. I can see the movement of your strokes, AND of the sparklies in your mind ..

I'd trade you for any cards from these.. if you even want something I've done.. these are so VERY creative!

I love all your wonderful, rich, shadows! And your animals are just as fascinating as your figurative work. Can't wait to see more!

NO! I think he's adorable. And you captured him wonderfully!

Everything is just awesome. I like making up stuff to translate your text into. Interesting that you should write about monkeys stuffed with string cheese.

I'm hoping browsing people's sketchbook threads will encourage me to actually sketch from time to time. ha!

All right, these are recent! I'm so glad I've done at least something, even if it's only rendering and random sketches between my completely irrelevant notes. (notes between the sketches, more likely).

I have this completely awesome little sketchbook with BROWN PAPER, I bought it from Dover this summer. BROWN PAPER! BROWN PAPER saves the world because.. because it's BROWN.

Thanks! It looks like a self-portrait so I guess it was.. I like the messiness in general, I wonder why I don't do stuff like that anymore. I should.

Love the current sketches - nice muscle study. Makes me want to get back into it as well.
