GOTHIC BEAUTY

Gothic Beauty doesn't just mean a pretty woman! Gothic Beauty can be in a cemetary, a crystal skull, a gothic cathedral, or dress up an animal into a gothic being. A gothic picture has gloomy overtones. It's dark, medieval, mysterious, creepy but beautiful. Colors usually (but not always) incorporate black, white, greys, reds and purples.


See below for some finished works from our friends here on illustrated atcs to inspire you. Cards from left to right are made by lemurkat, purplerealm, original youth, judithian and princessgene.


Posting your finished works for this swap to this thread or to your gallery would be encouraged, it is a great way for the other players to share your art and see your interpretation of the theme.

BEST work ONLY! Take your time and submit only cards that you would be happy to own yourself. Card size must be ATC standard which is 2.5 x 3.5.

Okay...so I'm just wondering....is this not a good swap idea? I'd like to have at least 6 players. I could extend the due date if you think this is too early. Let me know what you all think.

I think it's a great idea, Joy.

All of the swaps are down in the summer. Mine too. I noticed it over on AFA as well so it's likely just a seasonal mail art thing. People slowing down and being outside, vacations, etc.

If you want to extend the due date into September to attract more people, you're welcome to do that. Just let me know so I can change the thread title for you.

My reason for avoiding these themes are: I suck at doing people and I have no real understanding of what goth is. I have tried but it eludes me. If that changes and I get at least three ideas to work with, I will let you know.

Actually TheeCoyote, you don't have to draw people! That's why I showed some of the cards shown up at the top. Think of a haunted house or medieval castle or vampire type animals. That's gothic.
