I have no idea how long this took me
Thanks for the comments and suggestions on the WIP. I came to the conclusion that it was a good time for me to stop fiddling with the picture before I overworked it. I was also very tired out with this and wanted to move on to other things (like the ATCs due for swaps).
The reason why I 'wisped' out the back of his head and faded it into the horizontal lined background is that at the moment, things are rather...ephemeral. Transitional. Uncertain. With so much expectations being laid on him, will he be able to do a good job when he takes office in January? Has much of his former magic faded away after the stunning win, the moving speeches? Will people erode his original goals and shape his future ones?
I also wanted to convey a "moment in time" feeling.
(The real reason is that I picked a poor reference picture which had the back of the head in near solid blackness - impossible to draw out. There you have it. I'm bad at this.)
Among the interesting observations my friends made when asked for title suggestions were:
"his 2nd greatest asset is his bwain. you can't simply chop it off".
"Obama did blur the line between racial segregation. The painting's a cool way to depict equal emphasis on black and white. Maybe something along the lines...?"
What do you think?
