Having returned from my trip and wanting to work on my scrapbook album, there are some animals I would love to have ATCs of. If this list inspires any of you, or any of you wish to trade with me, I will make you cards of whatever you desire in return.

Please note, I would prefer cards to be in portrait (vertical) orientation, unless specified otherwise.

~ couas - crested, running or giant - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coua
(photos on http://dinets.travel.ru/madagascar5.htm)
~ hoopoe - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hoopoe
~ chameleons - any sp from Madagascar
~ green day and leaf tailed geckos - http://dinets.travel.ru/madagascar6.htm
(the green one at Ranomafana is PERFECT, since that's where we saw them)
~ mouse lemur
~ radiated tortoise - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radiated_tortoise

Also seeking:
~ primitive outrigger sailboat (horizontal format ok)

Anybody care to help me out? I'll make you whatever in return!

Cheers,

Kat

Damn you Kat, damn you!
What fabulous animals! That hoopoe is a charmer.
You have put together a highly motivating cluster of images.
But I can't, I just can't take on another trade just now.
Dang, now I have to subscribe and come back everyday and re-think.

BTW, what makes an outrigger sailboat "primitive"?

Aww, I'd love some of your art Coyote!

Primitive? Well, meaning I want it to look like a malagasy one, not a high class modern-day one! Outrigger roped together, for example, mast carved from a tree branch and the keel made from a tree trunk. I'm not saying all outriggers are primitive, but if anyone draws me one, I want it to be.

Hoopoes are gorgeous, I was really stoked to see one in Berenty.

Cool! Have you been adding any new album pages to your photobucket gallery?

So, EQ, you did an outrigger?
What did you use for a reference?

Not yet Annie, no.

I found a reference picture of an outrigger yesterday. But it was on an envelope. Here's some (seraching for "vezo outrigger" in google images)

Ours had a dolphin painted on the sail. IT was the emblem of our accomodation - Hotel de le Plage.

There are pages and pages of outriggers on Flickr. Most are modern, but there are some real old ones--so old they are relics in need of serious repair.

Wow! Those Mouse Lemurs are cute! How can I not resist. It may be a bit - as I have a ton of prior commitments - but I would love to send you a Mouse Lemur.

I have a rather fondness for Lemurs myself - I was raised on a Wildlife Farm where we rehabilitation injured and orphaned wildlife back into nature. Because of that experience, I had the opportunity to work with a Lemur & Wild Cat rescue center for a summer. I ended up with a funky brazilian Lemur ringworm and an experience of a lifetime.

AWesome Judi - take all the time you need, I've accrued quite a list so far to work through so time is good ^^

Working with lemurs must be awesome - not the ringworm though! Which species did you mostly deal with? Ringies? Were they ex-pets?

They had (if I can remember correctly) 4 Ring Tails, 2 Red Ruffed and 1 very nasty Black & White Ruffed (he came from an extremely abusive home). Along with ligers, lions, bob-cat, cougars and an array of other primates. I only got to work there for a few weeks one summer before I started a paying job - but it was amazing. And yes, unfortunately they were all illigal pets. Most of the lemurs were very tame, gentle beings. There is something extremely centering about their nature.
