An organism, organ, or part consisting of two or more tissues of different genetic composition, produced as a result of organ transplant, grafting, or genetic engineering.

For this swap, I will run 3 groups of 5. Each participant will be drawing for all the others in their group. You will each select 2 or 3 different animals, and we shall be hybridising them! Thus all chimeras should end up different.

Deadline is the 30th November. I will PM you my address when you sign up. Please note, I live internationally and it can take up to two weeks for your letters to get to me. If I have not received from you by the 25th Nov you will reeive a PM from me.

IRCs and hostess ATCs appreciated, but not compulsory. Please do not send papers or ephemera as I'm trying to cut down my supplies, not create more!

I shall be working on mine this weekend - once I've finished Linda4ATCs journal pages.

I am planning on making a special journal for mine - using 8x8 sleeves and binding them together in a box to resemble a livestock crate, probably labelled "contains dangerous experiements, contents may bite". I'll scan it when it's done. It wil;l contain the results from this Chimera swap, plus the one I ran on ATCards.

Tbh Annie, I am actually contemplating making up a colouring book for the kids at Christmas. You can read my mind! Tim has a few cousins with kids aged about 3-6 so I thought I'd rustle up something for them. Just to see how well it works.

Indeed, after a brief scare (my computer "lost" the F drive, my big harddrive with all my stories/art/music on it) I am now burning 'em all to cd.

Sketches are a whole different "animal" from the finished, colored art. So, most of the surprise remains.

Considering how popular this theme is, I'll bet it will come around again.
In my case, the two mixes that gave me the most trouble, I feel I like the best. The first challenge with this theme was figuring out what features were most recognizable in each species and then making a credible combination of those. It was fun.

I hear you, Coyote.... It was even 'worse' when it was a combination of three. Then I had three animals to figure out a recognizable combination of. I sometimes decided to cheat and just use the markings from one animal if they were distinctive enough. :B Also, no fair choosing animals that are extremely difficult to draw. XD *shake fist*

I'm hoping to finish the last four up tonight when I get back. :o

Using the markings of one isn't cheating. It is employing recognizable features.

The numbat and chameleon are difficult for me. Bats not much better XD Animals I thought I'd have had problems drawing were actually fairly easy. o_O; I was surprised. :D

When I first read the post, Theecoyote, I hadn't checked the mail. Bu tI have now and voila! They're here.

And OMG, they're stunning! Then again, all the cards received through this swap are so darned awesome I want to keep them all.

Btw, it has just occured to me that thanks to the postage service and Xmas mail, that postage will be slower then usual - therefore, even if I post these within the next week, they may not get their before Christmas. Please folks do not panic! I will endeavour to have them posted out soon - but I imagine thanks to postal overload all of the ones currently enroute will take twice as long to get to me.

AT what point do I give up? klawzie emailled me ages ago saying she'd have them in the post in a few days and I said "no real rush as I didn't want to post them out until after Christmas" but it is now the new year and I've been waiting and waiting and still no sign of them... I've emailled her and PMed her and no response. But if they're in the post and just delayed - then as soon as I send out the returns, I can be sure they'll arrive - but if they're not in the post then I want to send out the returns pronto! I don't want to get negative feedback just cos one person is holding up the entire swap!

I've mailled Zamurai's cards out - he was the only person not affected by Klawzie's absense in some way or another, whether it be by being in her group or also in my Reading Group.

I'm starting to get stressed and anxious here! I don't want to wait forever... but I don't want to fork out two lots of postage for a dozen people either!

Don't get stressed and anxious. There's no magic in it for fixing things when shit just happens. Something must be up. I know that I am laboring under a cloud right now--the holiday sucks the life out of me. I really don't enjoy christmas and spending time with my disfunctional family gives me the doldrums. It's like trying to swim in Jello. Interestingly, this seems to be a common "affliction".

Anyway, I am not at all impatient. I know I have good cards coming--3, 4, whatever.
I'll keep an eye on the thread for word from you on when to expect them.

I shall be posting these out next weekend, whether Klawzie's have come in or not. If her's don't then I shall return your cards for her to the original artists.

I have emailled her to inform her and if they are in the post, they should have well and truly arrived by then. If they arrive later I shall return them to her and she can sort things out from her end.

Klawzie has sent me an email. She is ok but life was really stressful and busy for her with work and moving over the last month. She feels really bad about everything. Here is her email for Kat:

"To Lemurkat - (I would email her directly but it bounced twice?)
My mom was meant to post those out by express, but she apparently got her wires crossed with me. I have NO IDEA where the package is now because it can be in any number of the unpacked boxes. If I can get the addresses for the people I owe cards to (Chimerical Critters and Readers Group) I will send them out individually to their homes or to some sort of central location to go out with another host's cards. I do not mind bad feedback (not neutral - bad) because I should have sent them out early when I had the time. *sigh*"


I am going to send Klawzie everyone's mailing address so she can send the cards direct to you.

I know this is ANCIENT news, but did anyone EVER get cards from Klawzie from this one? I'm still sitting on the pandurtle I made for her. I'm guessing she never found them to post them.

Hrm, I found the scan of the one she made for me in another gallery with the caption "I wish I knew what happened to this card. I hope it reached its proper home." Which made me feel like she might have sent them. But, I guess not!

I think she's okay, because she uploaded the gleamer picture relatively recently (one year after this swap closed, so it must've been before last christmas. She was indeed a fine artist, but well, I guess Life Happens, right?

Maybe I'll print off the image. I am least got to see mine!
