Rainbow Fantastic / Colorful Swap! (Due Oct 30)

The colorful gals here have decided to create a colorful, wonderful, wild and bright "Rainbow Fantastic Swap!" This swap is for cards, of any theme, that explode with color. That means that no white space is permitted! Pull out those colorful medias and have fun with this one :). For those of you who work in color often, consider this a comfort zone! For those of you who prefer monotones or black and white, look at it as a challenge!

No bulky cards or heavy embellishments please to help keep shipping costs down.

Swap details:
Amount of cards: 3 for 3 or 6 for 6
Cards due in my hands: October 30 (please postmark by October 20 for non U.S. and October 25 for US participants to ensure they make the deadline). I send my swaps out promptly after they are due.
Shipping: US participants should send a SASE. I expect most of our cards to be flat, so 41 cents should do it for 3 cards (please send 58 cents if sending 6). International participants, please send an address label and I will cover your return postage. I will provide an envelope that will keep return cards flat and return costs down.
Additional info: Please include your user name, swap name, and real name on the cards. Also, please send the cards in protective sleeves so that they survive their travels safely. Goodies and extra ATCs are always appreciated, but never required or expected :). When you are ready to send, please PM me for my address. I will leave feedback for all participants before I mail returns.

I would have caught it earlier but I took the day off to go to the waterpark with my sister. So I am back, a little sunburned but back. Oh and I would rather my name be spelled Avi or even Ave (means bird in spanish) rather than Abby or Abbie or Aby or Abie or Abbey. Seriously having such a simple name is actually more trouble than you would think, nobody gets it right the first or sometimes even the 118th time. Oh well.

That's why I may not send it, its just pretty much randomness on a card, not necessarily a rhyme or reason to it. That's why I'll probably just personal swap it, cause I like to be more thoughtful for specific swap cards.

Cool! My six are done too, but I need to get a nice day to photograph them. I ended up doing a mixed media background (text, tissue paper, acrlyic paint) and then doing ink work with more acyrlic in the foreground. I'm happy with how they came out--very fun!

African 'Rainbow' Dawn. 3-3 and one for Dana.

Here are my entries. Blue looks a little harsher than it is in reality. Watercolour and Teppachi colour plus some freshly ground chinese pine ink - (mainly 'cos I adore the smell!)

Oh, those are lovely pumpkin! :)

Teppachi colour is authentic ancient chinese colour used to blend with their black inks. Very unusual colours and rather like a paste.
Pine ink is a solid stick of charcoal and glue created from the pine trees. You add a little water and grind it in an ink stone. The motion is said to be very relaxing and meditative - it also loosens the arm ready for wielding the chinese brush. (I wonder whether ladies might share the same calming experience when beating batter!?)

I don;t know about a calming experience, but it sure lets out a few frustrations! HAHA

Thanks for the info pumpkin. Do you find that the Teppachi somehow blends better with black ink than other colors? I am not used to working in the Chinese method, though have experimented a little bit, using Lian Quan Zhen's books as a guide. his work is wonderful,have you seen it? http://www.lianspainting.com/

The Teppachi paint is loaded onto the brush which already contains the ink - thus blending it on the surface on the paper by the stroke of the brush. Similarly two colours can also be blended on the same brush - although Japanese sumi-e would faint at such an atrocity! (They admire pure black calligraphy.)
