Please join me in a new challenge by drawing, sketching, painting upon a black ground. Color is welcome but not necessary. (A tacky, black velvet Mexican painting probably comes to mind. Don't go there unless you want to!) Just what can YOU do with a black background?

This will be a 3/3 swap Any theme is appropriate. Hand drawn or hand painted. No digital please. Of course, you will do your very best work! Use colored pencil, chalk, pastels, crayons, paint, or a mix...your choice.

US artists please include postage for your returns. Out of the US artists are free.

3/3 Three ATCs for three ATCs. Don't do more as you will only confuse me. I may have seven years of college but let's pretend I cannot count higher than three! Limited to 20 players.

I have some black velvet paper. For real. I always thought it would be super cute to use it for miniature black velvet paintings.
Keeping this seriously in mind.

12-21-2008, 06:31 PM
Cannot resist joining...I used black Canson in the past, but I was not 100% satisfied, I'll look for a new base.

12-21-2008, 06:58 PM
Sign me up! I love drawing on black! I used to have to do Tshirt designs for black shirts.
I sounds fun!

12-21-2008, 07:31 PM
Oh, I am tickled pink! Look! There are four of us already!!!! Yippppeeeeee!

12-21-2008, 07:31 PM
I'd like to play, please!

12-21-2008, 10:27 PM
Me too please. I once did some white acrylic on black velvet card. Plenty of time to play so looking forward to this one :)

12-21-2008, 10:43 PM
Welcome, Janet and Thorn! Start putting on your "thinking caps."

12-21-2008, 11:42 PM
Okay, Pam, I'll bite.. :)

12-22-2008, 01:41 AM
Wahoo! We're all over the map here and it will be great!

12-22-2008, 08:20 PM
Okay, Pamalama, here I am. Sign me up! The date is nice and far, far away, which is good because I will be taking an early evening graduate course in math which will have extensive studying involved. Not looking forward to driving through a messy winter to get there! You chose great examples to set a high standard for the swap.
Here are two of my traded cards from past swaps to get creative ideas going - one is black ink background with white left to fill in with Prismacolors, the owl is scratchboard scratched with a snap knife and tinted with watercolor.

12-22-2008, 10:56 PM
KaHeD, welcome! Math? That has been my worst subject in the world. Good luck with the class! I cringe thinking about it ;o{ I love the examples you are showing us. The Scratchboard owl is fantastic! The samples I put are NOT my art. We'll see how well I do...

12-23-2008, 02:21 AM
I would like to join this swap please....

12-23-2008, 03:44 AM
Katie, You are so welcome! ;o)

12-23-2008, 03:51 AM
Awesome idea Pam! Count me in!

12-23-2008, 04:22 AM
Me me me!!!

12-23-2008, 05:41 AM
L.A.French!!!! OMG! This swap is going to be so outstanding! Faerydae!!! What a great group is gathering. I'm so excited! I am such a fan of every person who has signed up. I'm all atwitter.

12-23-2008, 06:04 AM
I love painting on black paper. Sign me up!

12-23-2008, 06:08 AM
Oh, Joy! What JOY! Princessgene, come on in. We're having a party!

12-23-2008, 01:01 PM
I am very tempted by this one because I really enjoy working on black backgrounds. I am afraid I will over commit myself though. Hmmmm...okay, sign me up. But that's it! If I try to sign up for anything else, someone PLEASE stop me!

12-23-2008, 04:00 PM
Oh, Cynthia, we all know the feeling. Thank you so much for saying YES to this one. Now that you are committed, do NOT sign up for any other swaps! Ha. As if....

12-23-2008, 08:56 PM
Cynthia, I'd be glad to stop you AFTER you've signed up for my Art Media 101 swaps!

12-23-2008, 10:52 PM
Oh, Meran, you are evil. Mwahhahhaha!

12-24-2008, 01:18 AM
I try hard. :D
i've painted 2 cards black already, and have another piece of black paper.. so, my backgrounds are in the works.. and I just realized that one I did for the Column A & B Swap was on black background too.. no, it's not been uploaded yet.

12-26-2008, 12:52 AM
I'm ready to jump in to my first swap on this site.
May I?

12-26-2008, 04:00 AM
Please jump in! We are always ready for new artists!

12-29-2008, 04:08 PM
I would Like In Please.

12-29-2008, 04:17 PM
Artdog 21, you are IN! Welcome!

12-30-2008, 10:32 AM
I'd like to join too. : )

12-30-2008, 04:27 PM
Anáryawe, you are most welcome. I love how we are having a worldwide swap! And I love that we have new artists stopping in. I can hardly wait to see what artists send!

If any of you get art done, would you mind scanning it and adding it to this thread? We all enjoy inspiration!

01-15-2009, 08:36 PM
Here is my first card, to wake up this swap. (Who knows when I'll get to the other 2!) It is based on an old spider photo in a very ornate Victorian frame that I found on the American Museum of Photography website - they use it to decorate their weblinks page of course.

01-17-2009, 01:17 AM
I would like to join, please. I'm not sure if I can find any decent scratchboard by then, but I'm adaptable, and I love black.

01-17-2009, 04:11 AM
Molossus, you are welcome to join us!

01-17-2009, 04:12 AM
KaHeD, Kathy, you are soooo inspirational! I love all the samples you've shown on this thread! Your spidey is very elegant!

01-18-2009, 01:51 PM
I've made three. I learned one thing that every little gothgirl knows: drawing on black with white and black ink is the best thing ever... And painting with non-waterproof white ink is just a pain in the ass. Hmm yeah!

01-19-2009, 04:26 PM
Anáryawe, those are GREATNESS in miniature art. They are FANTASTIC! I can hardly wait to see them with my one good eye and my other lousy eye. ;O) WOW!!!

01-24-2009, 02:07 AM
My first one for this swap. My prismacolors looked better on the black ground than I expected! ;)

01-24-2009, 08:22 AM
wow. did I say WOW? yes, that's very lovely.. makes me want to try my prismas too!

01-25-2009, 02:05 AM
Oh, Thorn, very nice! If it wasn't so cold here, I'd want to run out for a walk in the dark night woods!

01-25-2009, 04:48 AM
Thanks guys! Here's #2:

01-25-2009, 02:48 PM
I have some black paper! Will go play and see how things work out.

I tried once before and it was pretty awful. Hopefully, I'll be back.

morning star
01-25-2009, 03:04 PM
Thorn your forest is amazing!
I better get to work on this swap!

01-25-2009, 09:00 PM
And here's #3:

01-26-2009, 04:20 PM
I can smell the freshness of the woods! I'm in total agreement with Meran and KaHeD. WOW! The graveyard one is SPOOKY. Great job!

01-27-2009, 01:23 AM
Thorn, it's chilly enough here in Massachusetts without such spookiness - but well done!

01-27-2009, 01:57 PM
Great cards by everyone so far! I need to get busy with these. I love drawing on black, I just need to get inspired.

01-27-2009, 11:39 PM
here are my cards :)

01-28-2009, 12:08 AM
Beautiful, Janet! I especially like the middle one.

01-28-2009, 01:53 PM
Likewise, Thorn, that middle card is very nice, but the green trees have interesting paint strokes, too.

01-28-2009, 02:54 PM
Wow! Very nice. Ditto on the middle one.

Question....would a mostly black background created via an ink wash qualify as the background? I have a couple of those that I've been saving.

Otherwise, I do have black paper and black scratchboard.

01-28-2009, 04:04 PM
Sure. I did not have any specific way in mind to create the black ground. One could paint or ink it. One could use black paper or cardstock. The ground you work upon must be black.

01-28-2009, 08:10 PM
Great! Thanks Pam.

Those cards are awesome! I hadn't even thought of Prismacolors on black!

01-28-2009, 08:57 PM
So, Mary, are you IN?

01-29-2009, 01:33 AM
I made 3 more cards early this evening. Looking out the window at the dusk light on the snow was inspiring. So I'll be sending these and the spider. That means there's one for our host to keep :D

01-29-2009, 02:59 AM
We are really seeing a lot of dramatic art on this thread. Thank you to all of you who shared your scans with us. I guess I'd better start thinking about what I'm going to do!!!!

01-29-2009, 03:50 AM
Janet and KaHeD...those are all really great! Each one is so unique. Nice work for sure!!

01-29-2009, 12:51 PM
KaHed you've created wonderful atmospheric cards!!!

01-30-2009, 03:22 AM
I finished my first one. This is not at all what I had in mind when I got the "brilliant idea" for this swap. To tell the truth, I don't remember WHAT my brain had in mind! Here's my first one. It is Prismacolor Pencils on black Canson paper.

01-30-2009, 03:43 AM
KaHeD, those winter landscapes are gorgeous! I can feel the snow. And I'm in Phoenix!

And I really like that portrait, Pamalama. The colors are really great and so is his expression.
Here's my last one (one of the four - your choice - is a hostess gift.)
I'll be trying to get them in the mail tomorrow. (Question, though - did you want an SASE for US partcipants, or just postage?)..

01-30-2009, 04:08 AM
Here's another. Not as much personality as the man.

Thorn, what a precious kitty! The rug looks great. I love the colors used. Isn't this fun?

01-30-2009, 12:46 PM
Oh my goodness! Your cards are turning out really beautiful!!

01-30-2009, 01:15 PM
my last card for this swap.

01-30-2009, 04:45 PM
I'm having too many ideas for this one, so will be starting them in a couple days.. instead of doing something MORE pressing (I'm stalled on a few cards for the PAT)(darn it)

I'd start today, but I have a subfloor to start laying in a couple hours.. if THAT goes easy and with little argument (I'm doing it with James; we can't seem to do anything like that without at least a little yelling, lol) then I'll get to start them today!

I already like the designs so well I'm making larger pieces, 5x7, and in oil pastel!

01-30-2009, 08:40 PM
I will be popping my cards in the mail tomorrow (Jan. 31). These were fun to do once I got going!

01-31-2009, 04:41 PM
Oh, Kathy, I can hardly wait to see them up close and personal! I know your art is ALWAYS fantastic!

02-01-2009, 11:55 AM
I just posted the below-listed comments about the hazards of mailing scratchbord in Shel's thread on sending mail art (http://www.illustratedatcs.com/forum/showthread.php?p=52483#post52483), and I remembered that some folks might be using scratchbord for this swap. I don't know if anyone is using the kind of scratchbord or claybord that is made with the hard panel backing, but if so, it can be ruined if it is mailed in the same fashion as other types of art cards. To avoid damage, you might need to consider how you mail the pieces to Pamalama and Pamalama might need to mail the returns containing scratchbord in more protected packaging.

"If the ATC is done on scratchbord or claybord (the kind on hard panel), I highly recommend it not be sent in a regular card or envelope. The greeting card method does not work for this medium. I ruined a scratchbord piece once by thinking it would be safe inside a greeting card. It ran through a postal machine and cracked. These types of pieces should be sent carefully wrapped, first in plastic (to keep the surface from getting scratched) and then in bubble wrap or some other form of buffer, and then put in some sort of package (the kind the post office won't attempt to run through a machine). It doesn't hurt to write "DO NOT BEND" on all sides of the package too."

I had considered doing my pieces for this swap on scratchbord, but decided against it due to my concern that, even if I mailed my cards in a more protected package, that they would be mailed out to the recipients in whatever SASE's the recipients had sent in, which might not be adequate to keep the pieces from being damaged.

Anyway, I just thought I would share this here.

02-01-2009, 04:50 PM
Thank you so much for the forewarning. I never knew any of this! I have scratch paper and I'm sure it would be okay. It's the kind with random colors hidden behind black wax. I have student work that is years old and it is still the same as when the student handed it in.

02-01-2009, 05:20 PM
Yeah, I cannot imagine the scratchpaper posing a shipping issue, just the kind that is on the heavy, rigid board (which is the kind I prefer to use for scratchart). And, I know that even it can make it through the mail at times without a problem. But, all it took though was one bad experience to make me realize the potential for damage.

02-01-2009, 10:05 PM
Great info. ladies. I'm trying to get a jump on several things at the moment. These are on my "list."
Meran...You mean you and a male can't do a project without working side by side in harmonious bliss??? LOL!!! I think we women are often better problem solvers than they are! But they don't want to be reminded of it! :)

02-02-2009, 12:04 AM
some days are good, but most not. I can NOT believe some of the things he comes up with Tanya.. today, he went to get replacement hinges for a cabinet door. Came back with a DOOR set.. you know those huge honkers? arguing ensued.

about shipping: I've noticed some of the crayon cards are coming thru a bit stressed out.. I'll be taking an extra amount of care with them.. so anything that relies on a solid film would be suspect.

02-03-2009, 01:34 AM
Thorn, your art has come! It is much more lovely in person! I love that the kitty is reading the paper. Isn't she? I didn't get that nuance with the online scan. Your forest comes to life. It reminds me of a primeval forest we visited on Vancouver Island. The forest was so thick, one could not see the sky. It was midnight dark at midday! The ghostly cemetery is hauntingly lovely and the cone flower is perfect. Great job!

02-03-2009, 07:11 PM
I'm done, will be scanning and posting them later, and then they'll be in the mail!

02-03-2009, 09:05 PM
Oooooohweeeeeeee, Meran! You made some gorgeous art!

02-03-2009, 10:47 PM
Meran, those are so beautiful!!:)

02-04-2009, 12:12 AM
glad you're liking them.. the rose is my fave, but I've had that pic of the clematis for a long time and have wanted to do it.. I miss it :(

I liked working on black! Thanks Pam!

02-04-2009, 02:29 AM
Meran, I love that clematis. It's beautiful on the black ground. I'm glad you decided to use it for this, it worked very well.

02-04-2009, 12:05 PM
Ooh, Meran, so lovely to see flowers after our current snowfall!

02-06-2009, 12:44 AM
Wahoooo! The Art on Black is rolling in! I received KaHeD's and Molossus's and they are, of course, outstanding works of art! Thank you both for the extras. I appreciate you joining and don't expect anything but fun. You are too generous. Grazi!

morning star
02-06-2009, 02:58 PM
Meran I love the clematis too. I love the hard angular lines with the softness of a flower

02-06-2009, 05:00 PM
yeah, I liked the geometrics of the frame and the organic nature of the flower.. I just LOVE juxtapositions like that.. I have more, taken that same night and day... but no more black bristol... I painted some other papers, but it doesn't always work well with the pencil. I have some 'experiments' with black paint drying.... (for backgrounds)

morning star
02-06-2009, 08:08 PM
mollossus I just saw your bear card in the gallery....I love it

02-07-2009, 03:52 PM
Meran, your beautiful art arrived! Wow!

02-07-2009, 11:29 PM
Janet, I love you! I have British chocolate melting in my mouth as I type. I don't know how it fits into my new year (successful to date) diet but my heart is singing a tune! What do the Brits and the Europeans know about chocolate that they are keeping from the Americans? We can't make chocolate like this. I believe I have tried them all!
Oh and, BTW, your lovely Art on Black cards are here, too! I have to say that each person who has sent them have stunned me with how much more lovely they appear in person. This is an outstanding swap!

02-10-2009, 02:18 PM
Some of us need to get our a@#%s in gear!!!! This weekend I'll do some catching up!!!

02-10-2009, 03:46 PM
I have seen so many cool cards that I am tempted to start all over. We'll see what time dictates!

02-11-2009, 02:23 AM
oops, don't kow why they did that.
They aren't nearly as grainy as they look here.
They are prismacolor on black drawing paper

02-11-2009, 02:54 AM
Morning Star, looks great from my seat! Our trees in reality look a lot like yours lately...very frosty and bare! Good work!

02-13-2009, 06:27 PM
Ok...I have been experimenting with black backgrounds...and I have done all kinds of nifty things...so it's not too late to join this swap is it?

I would love to have an actual reason to make all these cards!

02-13-2009, 08:24 PM
I am amazed at the cards submitted for this swap. I told myself that I'm too busy to do this one but I NEED TO OWN some of this art. You are quite a talented bunch of people. Thank you for sharing your art...so may I join? I can't wait to own any of these cards. ;) Please pm me your address if it's not too late to join. Thanks

02-14-2009, 02:19 AM
Tascarini, you are welcome here! We'd all love to see what you do, too!

02-14-2009, 03:12 AM
Love those cards morning star! These are going to be a wonderful collection of work!!

02-14-2009, 05:36 AM
Robyn! Welcome. I'm sorry. I didn't see the note you left earlier. You are IN if you still wish to be. I know you'll do something fanciful!

02-14-2009, 04:36 PM
Thanks Pam!

I have been experimenting a lot with black backgrounds (which is a good way to reuse mistake cards...just paint over them!)

I have these three up for consideration in this swap...though they aren't all that fanciful!

Maybe I will make a few more...

02-15-2009, 12:49 AM

I can't figure out how to download the pictures to the thread...posted them in my gallery. I may try a few more before I decide what to send.

02-15-2009, 01:12 AM
tascarini, those look very textured! what medium did you use?

02-15-2009, 01:41 PM
I used prismacolor pencils on black acidfree cardstock. Do they look ok or should I work on them more? Couldn't figure out how to get them brighter without putting a basecoat of white underneath. I'm new to the prismacolors and definately new to painting on black.

02-15-2009, 07:04 PM
you have a lighter hand than I do... some of the Prismas are more 'bright' on black... if you want more saturation, pick a pencil close to the color and scribble on a scrap piece.. you'll find one that works to your color preference. HOWEVER< I think what you have is lovely! You don't have to do a thing...

02-15-2009, 10:25 PM
Everyone, please welcome Sandi Tascarini to the IATC experience. It looks like she will fit in very well! Sandi, I like your work.

To upload a photo, scan it onto your computer. When you come to this thread, click on "go advanced." After you "go advanced" there are more features offered. Click on the paperclip. This will open a browse window for you. Find your photo and click on "open." To upload it, click on "upload." This is how to upload one photo at a time into your gallery, too. This site also has a magazine feature. If you ever want to submit photos for the magazine, you will want to save them in 300 dpi at about 300 X 500 (more or less) resolution. The editors always want everything at 300 dpi. My scanner has a feature that allows you to change dpi before scanning. This is quite a high resolution as most websites prefer 72 dpi. That is how my camera works on automatic. I'm sure there is a way to up my dots per inch on the camera but I'm not sure how! There. If you have more questions, just ask. Someone is bound to know!

There is no rule against having a basecoat of white underneath. The only rule is a black background.

Robyn, wow. You are fast!!!!! Your art looks fine to me!

morning star
02-16-2009, 04:20 AM
tascarini I love the barn/horse drawing!
they are all great

02-17-2009, 06:52 PM
Chronata, those cards are so nice! I always love cats!!!
Tascarini, Yours are amazing too! I can't believe you just started using prismacolors and did such a kick butt job!! I like that textured look myself!

02-21-2009, 01:27 AM
Morning Star and Tascarini! Oh, my goodness! You both sent in BEAUTIFUL, GORGEOUS Art on Black art. Whomever receives your ATCs will be thrilled. I'm off to leave iTraders right now!

02-22-2009, 06:15 PM
I've finally done some art on black that I can live with. I think I will send these into the book project. I hope the rest of you will send yours in, too! This is an outstanding group of artists!

02-22-2009, 06:57 PM
Those are so awesome Pamalama!! What did you use for those?? They almost look like a technique I saw in a magazine using tempera and india ink. Or a bleach method! Cool results, whatever it is!

02-22-2009, 07:58 PM
It's black paper with white acrylic paint. I really had to use a lot of layers to cover the black. Sometimes I used black acrylic paint to repaint something. The black parts are mainly paper though. The color was put in afterward with Prismacolor pencils. Thanks for your comments.

02-25-2009, 06:33 PM
I have one done so far. I did a second card but I'm not caring for it much. This scrapbook paper doesn't have enough tooth. Prismacolors don't pop at all on the smooth finish. Oh well, I'll see what else I have lying around.

02-25-2009, 08:40 PM
The Llama is great!

02-25-2009, 08:51 PM
Arteezt! WOWSER! That is amazing. We might be in the swap gallery. If not today, soon! You are all knocking me out with your fantastic vision!

02-26-2009, 12:30 AM
omg, I have just GOT to have one of Tanya's!!! she's one of my faves. She was my giftee for the Christmas Secret Santa, you know ;)
Like I was for You, Pam!

02-26-2009, 03:26 AM
I now know how to get these in the swap gallery. I think I should wait until I have more cards from more artists. Please scan them and put them on the thread. They are coming out so nicely!

02-26-2009, 03:39 AM
Thanks Meran and Pam, I almost didn't do another llama. I've done a few in the past here and at the OS. I just have so many great photos of those faces, I can't resist drawing them. Now I need to stretch myself and try something different. This medium is a fun one. Thanks for doing it Pam.

02-26-2009, 10:45 PM
I finished my cards, need to know where to send them. Thanks for letting me into this swap.

02-27-2009, 01:34 AM
Hi Artdog 21! The info was sent to you via PM. I'm so excited to see your art with my one great eye and the other half blind one!

02-27-2009, 01:35 AM
Time for everyone to think about sending your art in, especially you artists in europe!!!!

02-27-2009, 02:16 AM
I can't believe I was so far ahead in this... for once! :D

02-27-2009, 02:54 AM
Oh Pam, I must be out of the loop! What's up with the eyes?? I hope you're ok!
Yeah Meran, it must be nice to sit back and relax as the rest of us sweat to make the deadline!!
I got another done...I'm on a roll now.

02-27-2009, 03:21 AM
so many times we've 'seen' this, and yet I've never see it worked up! How funny! and delicious... lol

02-28-2009, 06:53 PM
Just letting you know, Pam... that my cards went postal this morning!

Keep a look-out for 'em!

I love when art comes in the mail. Now I'm excited for Monday. It may be there! Thanks, Robyn.

Pamalama...I never like to be a whiner but you have me as being from Wisconsin on the first page of this thread. I'm a bit farther east, over the Lake, in lower Michigan. Not that I'm ashamed to be mistaken for such. I grew up in the western Upper Peninsula, which is swimming with Packer fans. I don't know how we didn't end up as part of Wisconsin instead of connected by a bridge. Anyhoo, just figured I'd mention it. :cute:

03-02-2009, 06:11 PM
That's the second time this year I've moved people without their consent. :swoon: Once I moved Thee Coyote to Wyoming when she lives in Montana. Well, I've fixed you. You are now moved back to Michigan. I must have a screw loose? Good thing YOU are sane. I need friends like that to keep an eye on me!

03-03-2009, 11:19 PM
LOL!! I bet Wyoming and Montana get mixed up like us midwesterners!! LOL!! No biggie...It's just one of those things like when people spell my name "Tonya" instead of "Tanya," you just have to point it out. Is that obsessive?? :twitcy:
I'm done so I can send my cards now! Here they are...

03-04-2009, 01:25 AM
sweet! I want ALL of Tanya's cards, please :D
just kidding, but wait, maybe not!

03-04-2009, 01:51 PM
Thanks Meran, I love your cards too!!! **MWAH MWAH!!!!**

03-06-2009, 12:17 AM
Tanya, your cards are gorgeous! I can't give them ALL to Meran. I want one, too!

Robyn, your wonderful art arrived. It is splendid, gorgeous and well-done (as always). The cat looks even more like a photo in my hands. I have a feisty cat named Max and this could be his brother! You did a very nice job!

03-06-2009, 05:55 PM
you can TOO give them all to me, I have no problem with that! :D
of course, then I wouldn't get anyone else's work.. :( Maybe I should just have made up 9 cards.. I DO like the ON BLACK part.. I might STILL.. I threaten a lot.. and I have time to submit still too...
I'm not sure if this IS a tease, Pam!

03-06-2009, 07:04 PM
I made two and hope to make the third one tonight!

03-07-2009, 02:06 AM
Tanya, your art arrived. It is lovely! Anyone who receives one from you is in for a treat. Well, that's true of all the art that has come my way for this swap. You are all doing incredible stuff!

03-07-2009, 05:15 AM
Everyone is so kind here!! I'm glad my cards are under the deadline and in good shape!! Now I just get to wait for the awesome returns!!:jiggy:

I still need to make backings tomorrow.

03-09-2009, 08:21 PM
AnneY, your cards are great. Hope you mail them SOOOOOOON!

03-10-2009, 10:12 PM
I was actually really super ill for over a week and am only now getting back in the swing of things.

I will need to sadly pull out of this one too - I will still try to meet it but am behind massively. if I get them all done before the due date - I will join back in, but right as of today - it looks dismal. :(

03-12-2009, 02:17 AM
artdog_21, is your real name Miguel? Man oh man, your art on black ROCKS, ROLLS, and DOES SOMERSAULTS! You forgot to put your screen name on the card backs so I added it. Hope you don't mind. One of your works reminds me of one I did for a different swap... on a different site! But yours is postured SO much better. Do they look similar to you?

03-12-2009, 03:50 AM
Any one have Pamalama's address? I have cards ready to go and was hoping to send it tomorrow morning, but I just realized I don't have the address!

03-12-2009, 11:52 PM
I have sent Joy my address. Does anyone else need it? I must apologize for keeping people in the dark. I keep forgetting you don't know where to find me.

Here's my first ever scratchboard endeavor. I was in such a hurry to see how it would come out that I rushed it. The body is kind of goofey. But this is a fun medium. I will try it again sooooon!

03-13-2009, 06:59 PM
Oh, your owl is so cute and cuddly. You know, this week one of my students wrote a story about an owlbear. Now I guess I know what one looks like!

03-15-2009, 04:55 PM
All of the cards look so wonderful....

Unfortunately I will have to withdraw from this swap... as my work is keeping me from having any fun lately.

sorry... : (

03-15-2009, 05:08 PM
We're dropping like flies. We are going to miss those artists who have withdrawn. However, there is plenty of great art here for your returns. Anaryawe, your wonderful art arrived from Finland. The fronts are superb, the backs are gorgeous! I'm excited!

03-17-2009, 05:16 AM
Two came today. Great art from LAFrench and AnneY. I am so thrilled with this swap!
Two more are due before we can swap out. We have time yet until the due date....

Good work done so far by each and every one of you!

03-17-2009, 04:33 PM
Mine are going in the mail today!

03-20-2009, 01:37 AM
PrincessGene, your art is here and it is superb, wonderful, awesome. Love the kitties with people and the kitties without. They are delightful. Thanks so much for joining this swap.

03-20-2009, 01:46 AM
so, is everyone in then, Pam? I'm excited to see my returns on this one!! :D

03-20-2009, 02:01 AM
They will be sorted and mailed on Monday, March 23. It'll be a shame to see them leave my house. They are all so lovely!

03-23-2009, 06:27 PM
Our granddaughter is ill today so the day started out with me running into Spokane to pick her up. Unfortunately, the kids get out of school at one every day this week which means her brother will soon join us. Anyway, the point is, I got all the cards swapped and in envelopes and we'll stop at the post office on the way to get Steven. However, I'm apologizing because I was constantly distracted. I believe you all got great swaps but if somehow I ended up sending someone their own art, please contact me and I'll reswap with you! Thanks to all of you who included extras and postage. I appreciate you very much.
When your swaps arrive, please leave a nice "thank You" with the rep box. Thanks so much. Oh, also, if you haven't yet received an iTrader from me, I'll check through the list later and I will leave one. You all did absolutely splendid work!

03-23-2009, 10:24 PM
No problem, I 200% support grandparent support for sick grandchildren (actually my own parents arrive next Saturday and I hope they'll have great time with my own kids!).

03-24-2009, 01:41 PM
No sweat Pamalama! Sick kids trump ATCs!!! I'm not losing sleep. I trust you to do a wonderful job, when you are of sound mind and able body!!;)

03-25-2009, 01:21 AM
Well, I expect Meran got hers today but one can never truly trust the post office. I keep thinking I'll hear from you all about how SWEEEEEEEET the art is! IT IS!

03-25-2009, 02:07 AM
nope, didn't dearie.. :(

03-25-2009, 05:22 AM
Tomorrow...tomorrow....The Sun will come out tomorrow.....

03-25-2009, 03:04 PM
You have a beautiful voice Pam :)

03-25-2009, 08:28 PM
Yay! I got mine today, and one is even a new artist for me! Thanks to AnneY from Germany (great detail on the leaves on the trees), Molossus (intriguing card of a lizard, as always beyond belief of the attention to detail), and LA French (simple yet elegant couple)..
Pam, I'm sending you a pm... there were 'extras' in my envie... :D

03-25-2009, 09:27 PM
Thank, Janet. Yes, I do sing quite nicely for a tone deaf gal, don't I?

03-26-2009, 04:42 AM
We have a few newbies on this swap. Please scroll down the User CP page to see the rep remarks left for you. BTW, Sandra Strait is Molossus. M.A. Zamora is Artdog_21. Their works are really amazing, aren't they? One and all, please leave rep remarks for those whose art you received. Thanks.

morning star
