10-22-2008, 01:06 PM
You sure can! I'll add you now :D

10-22-2008, 01:31 PM
Are nudes ok? I don't want to freak anyone out if I add a penis to my hunky nature kings. I'm sure there are plenty who won't mind but I just want to be sure of your theme, Annie.

10-22-2008, 01:35 PM
Uh oh... Evil Penis! :biglaugh:

10-22-2008, 01:38 PM

That's fine Sal! If anyone doesn't want their king going that far, PM me.

10-22-2008, 02:45 PM
THAT Far???????
he he.

10-22-2008, 06:02 PM
Hmmm, I see, my knowledges of english language will enlarge with this swap...

10-22-2008, 07:40 PM
All of a sudden I got this image of Viagra King, which I guess would insinuate he is of the wood.

I don't think the atc format would be big enough to accomodate my vision, however.

10-22-2008, 07:41 PM
Hmmm, I see, my knowledges of english language will enlarge with this swap...

Oh - you def get rep points for that one!

10-22-2008, 08:10 PM
STOP!!!!! If I read anymore and laugh anymore I'm going to get a headache. You all crack me up!

10-22-2008, 08:46 PM
HAHAHAHAHA You guys are KILLING me! :biglaugh: I could put a R rating in my thread title LOL

Apologies to people who get scared. There IS something in the iATCs water....I'm certain :D Come drink, and become one of us. *tries to do a Kiefer Sutherland imitation*

10-23-2008, 08:54 PM
Oooooo fun! I'll join as long as you don't turn my noodles into worms. Scary.

10-23-2008, 09:04 PM
Uhm, me please! I would like to play. I'll try not to make my kings too queeny. :)

10-23-2008, 09:41 PM
I'm just going to sit here looking innocent and taking notes... *innocent kitten eyes*

10-23-2008, 10:00 PM
Well - Annie, you had to reference Lost Boys so now Billy Wirth has been in my head for the last 3 days. Which isn't a bad thing really. He might end up as a nature king. Wouldn't that be yummalicious?

10-23-2008, 10:12 PM

I'm trying not to bust out laughing here at work. I've now got this bizarre vision of the 'slightly-queeny-viagra-king-of-the-wood'.

:puts Lost Boys in her netflix queue:

10-24-2008, 02:47 AM
themuppet: YAY! You're added!! :jiggy: I promise no worms LOL

LatteJan: YAY! I'll add you too! AND PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make me a Queeny Nature King!!! *puppy eyes* I will love you forever!!!!

IceKat: Me too, I don't know WHAT these crazy people are talking about *Is complety innocent too*

Anne: OMG can you PLEASE?? I'll love you forever too, even though I already do.

Amber: OMG now I SO HAVE to DRAW that!!! I'll have, like, viagra pills around the card like little glowing symbols *runs off to the drawing board*

Sad anecdote: I thought Viagra was allergy medication until I was about 21 and corrected  Everyone just looked so happy in the commercials, like all their allergy symptoms were gone!

10-24-2008, 04:22 AM
Yeah, this one's different! Can I play?

10-24-2008, 04:28 AM
I just read page 2 of the post! You all are hilarious!!! I am SO gonna have fun with this one!!!:jiggy:

10-24-2008, 05:40 AM

I should have peeked here more often! This thread is getting rambunctious!

Sadly~ My Nature Kings are of the more Garden Variety. (and less of the virile variety!...although you will have to judge for yourself!)

Though I do have to say that I am very very happy with these, and they are my favorite works to date.
It's nice to be able to fall in love with your own art! It doesn't happen that often for me.
Y'all might not get these cards after all! ;)

10-24-2008, 05:47 AM
oh...and one more made especially for Annie...
The Raven King!

10-24-2008, 06:26 AM
Oh wow, beautiful work already! I might have to slack on some other stuff just so I can play with some images for this one...

10-24-2008, 09:32 AM
Aaah, I love the Raven King !

10-24-2008, 01:39 PM
Wow Chronata!! I'm so loving those! Spectacular stuff!!

10-24-2008, 02:29 PM
Chronata - garden variety or not they are beautiful (and still have a bit of natural sexiness :-). I especially love the raven king. You've set the standards high for the rest of us now!

10-24-2008, 02:45 PM
Ohhh Chronata, those are awesome. I love the facial expressions, especially on Holly King.

10-24-2008, 03:32 PM
Awww...Thank you guys!
That is really appreciated! Especially since I was in such a depression this week, that I destroyed more art than I finished.
Sometimes good things rise from the ashes.

10-24-2008, 04:59 PM
Liz: You BET! I'll add you now! :jiggy: LOL I can't wait to see what you come up with!

10-24-2008, 05:00 PM

OMG!! I just saw these they are ALL FABULOUS!!!! And I LOVE MINE!!!! You're fantastic!! Thank you!!!

10-24-2008, 07:56 PM
Robyn - those are some fantastic cards!!! I am jealous of Annie now.

10-27-2008, 07:11 PM
Those are great cards, Robyn! I really like the holly king one. Great set you made.

That's what I love, you never know what you might get. You could have a Holly king or slightly confused viagra infused queen o' wood. LOL

Yes, they're all great!

10-27-2008, 07:58 PM
They are wonderful Chronata :D

10-27-2008, 08:07 PM
Thank you so much everyone! :D

I mailed them today, Annie...

and so you aren't surprised ..I had to use quite a bit of packing tape because the envelope was amazingly crappy!

10-28-2008, 12:11 AM
I'm thinking I might use this challenge as inspiration to make a few cards for my temple's Yule auction this year. We do that to raise funds for the steering committee to put on events and pay for supplies. I think having gotten into ATCs is going to be a real kickstart for me to get creative in new ways again. I'm even planning on starting an art group at the temple to work on books and atcs and such. Hopefully people there will get into trading and using it as an expression and exploration of some of the themes I've had the pleasure of participating in here and at AFA.

Random and generalized thanks to everyone for the inspiration!

10-28-2008, 10:30 PM
Sooooooo, I`ve finished two of my cards today..... and I realized.... I`ve never ever done "natural" looking men before. Hey, I haven`t even drawn that many cartoon like men either actually... maybe only two or three.

I`ll upload my cards tomorrow, and yes you are allowed to laugh.... really. I mean, my woman characters aren`t "natural" looking to start with, and I don`t normally draw men, and suddenly I`m supposed to draw men who looks somewhat "normal".... oh my it has been hard I tell you :twitcy:

10-29-2008, 07:37 AM
Okay, here they are, my two first nature kings

The horned guy looks very....... funny in a way, but I guess fauns can look a little strange. The snow elf looks much more whiter here than in real life. My camera doesn`t pick up greys that well.

10-29-2008, 09:00 AM
:D Moonfairy, your Faun is really funny. He looks to say "Oh my god!" And both cards are very nice! Only wait, I will start with my guys!:skeptical:

10-29-2008, 01:34 PM

Moonfairy, that faun is GREAT! Like he's got a little sprite just yammering his ear off or something.

And I am kinda the same way.. not many men in my collection of artwork. By me or by others.

10-30-2008, 02:57 AM
I love your men, Moonfairy!

11-03-2008, 06:54 PM
Hi I've never done a swap before in my life, but I like the sound of this one and the deadline is not too close, Can I join?

11-03-2008, 06:57 PM
Yay! You most certainly can! :jiggy: Welcome to the site! You'll be addicted to ATCs in no time and shall be one of us *evil grin*

Seriously, if you have any questions at all, feel free to PM me!

11-03-2008, 07:29 PM
ME ME!! I wanna play!

11-03-2008, 10:29 PM
WOOHOOO YAY Randi!!!!111 :jiggy:

11-12-2008, 09:43 AM
Is this only 3 for 3, or can we do more? >.>

11-19-2008, 06:05 AM
I'd love to play too! This would be my first swap on this site. :)

11-19-2008, 03:43 PM
Hey Dolores4fun - I was just going to suggest you join after seeing your Pan in the art gallery.

11-19-2008, 04:54 PM
Yay! Welcome! I really liked your funky musician portraits :D I'll add you now!

11-19-2008, 08:09 PM
Thank you!

The funky musician swap was a lot of fun. Of course, I'll probably have more fun drawing half naked men! :jiggy:

11-19-2008, 09:08 PM
Shan't we all! :jiggy:

11-19-2008, 09:19 PM
Yes we shan!

11-19-2008, 09:28 PM
Yes. Lots of shan for all!

11-19-2008, 11:03 PM
Okay. I keep thinking about this theme so can you add me? I can't resist the pretty men in leaves.

...though mine will probably be more like pretty boys in leaves... but um. I'll make them as kingly as possible? :D

11-19-2008, 11:08 PM
There have been teenage kings! Welcome to the swap!! :jiggy: I drool whenever I see your Jason card LOL

11-20-2008, 01:11 AM
Oh, yay! I've been wanting to see more from overlordu. ^^ Nice gallery so far.

11-20-2008, 01:24 AM
Yeah, with all these cool participants, this swap is going to be friggin AWESOMESAUCE

I was thinking of doing some kind of a zine of a swap I've hosted, and this might be a god topic for a Zine.. I could do a little research on nature kings in mythology/cultures/religions etc...

Is anyone interested in me doing this? Anyone wanna help out with research or give ideas as to what the content could consist of? Maybe bios of the artists or blurbs where y'all discuss why you drew what you did?

11-20-2008, 03:11 AM
That sounds cool, except I don't really know what a zine is, LOL. Because I'm lame like that~ is it like an online magazine?

IceKat- Aw, thanks! <3

11-20-2008, 03:37 AM
HAHA, no, it's okay! A zine is like a small self-published magazine! I don't know how I'd actually publish this one, except maybe create a PDF file for people to print their own out, or take to Staples!

11-20-2008, 03:55 AM
That's really a cool idea, EQ. I'd be on board for that. I can also help if you need research or articles or something of the sort.

11-21-2008, 12:20 AM
My dear EQ,

I'd love to help out with a zine!

11-21-2008, 02:28 AM
Awesome! Sounds like fun. We could all write a few lines about our process, or the inspiration for the image maybe? I'm in, whatever the group decides! :)

11-21-2008, 02:29 AM

Okay I need help in the following:

Research an idea for a short article: (You don't HAVE to write it, unless you want to! but at least brainstorm some content ideas! The 'writer' would only have to crank out about 300-450 words for an 'article') Funky ideas I'm just putting out of my hat: The male figure in mythology/fertility imagery/whatevar.....Who is the Green Man? (erm...yeah, WHO is he??)..... Real Nature Kings (were there any? Like Druids or Celts or something???)..... Antlers and their Significance.... Book Review: (any cool books in this theme? Fintion/non-fiction/poetry/graphic novel??)

Graphic design: Anyone have any experience? InDesign is the easiest to edit the text in, and I prefer it, but if you want to just design a layout in photoshop, I could work with it, as long as you don't flatten the layers :)

Timeline: I don't expect to start working on the design until march or so, so that gives us plenty of time to brainstorm and work on content :)

Format: I was thinking having the zine like an 8.5x11 paper folded, but that may be too small? Any thoughts on this? How else could we economically format it?

11-21-2008, 02:30 AM
Liz: Awesome! Yeah, I think it would be great if we all tried to write about our materials/thought process anything! Maybe about 200-300 words?

Not to scare anyone off though! You can still have your cards featured, even if you don't want to write! :)

11-21-2008, 02:31 AM
Liz: ACKKK! You're not on my list, do you want to join the insanity??? :D :jiggy:

11-21-2008, 06:32 PM
Can we do 6/6? I saw someone else ask it and I don't think it was answered. I seriously doubt I could manage 6 but it is tempting.

11-21-2008, 08:10 PM
Any writing I do about my cards, I'll post maybe with the card on the thread so you can just copypasta for the zine? Easier than needing to retype it when you get the cards, I'd think. I'll look through my writings, as I've already got a body of work from when I published pagan newsletters in the past, and homework from my temple's classes. I'll dig a little this weekend.

11-21-2008, 08:12 PM
Yeah, this one's different! Can I play?

Thought I signed up a while ago! Just shows to go ya~! Yes, sign me up if you haven't already! I'll do some nature king research. I already did, kindof, looking for inspiration. Didn't find much under "nature Kings" but found lots under kings, gods, mythology, legends, etc.

So if we do a little paragraph on where our image came from, or maybe even a how-to type thing? Might be pretty fun! And I love to see how others put their images together. SO much talent here! VERY COOL.

11-21-2008, 09:37 PM
I could do something on Herne the Hunter who I actually did a model shoot for a while back because someone had intially commissioned me to do a painting based on him. I plan on doing a card as well.

11-21-2008, 10:17 PM
*raises hand* I can do/help with the graphic design. I was going to do a 'cover' as a joke/example for it but thought I'd let you know I'd do it eenywayz!

I think the size you've suggested is just fine. No need to go huge.

11-21-2008, 11:52 PM

I've had a thing for Herne ever since watching Robin of Sherwood when I was younger. *sigh* I'd love to see some of your shoot, wow!

11-22-2008, 01:22 AM
I'll see what I can do :)

Just an FYI - he's got clothes on.

11-22-2008, 02:14 AM
Okay, here is a run down of content, anyone who wants to be added here let me know!:

Articles: IceKat, Anonevyl (Both those ideas sounds awesome you guys!!)

Walk-throughs/technique demo: Lizstevensart, Eraserqueen(?)

Graphic Design: Ambermarie, Eraserqueen

NOTE: Please email me any content you have for the zine! That includes images, text etc. to andrea2000 AT gmail DOT com

Sal: Regarding 6 for 6. I think 6 is fine! Just a head's up to people though, it would be best of you made three amazing cards, rather than 6 so-so ones, when you might get burnt out after 4 or so. So send your best in! If you have a blast and make six and you love 'em all, send them in!

Liz: LOL I'll add you now!

11-22-2008, 04:16 PM
This sounds so fun. And I'd love to participate with an article or a step by step. But let me get all my cards complete and see how it goes.

12-05-2008, 03:07 AM
Oooh! I like this one. Sign me up!

12-05-2008, 03:30 AM
Sure ! I'll add you now!

12-05-2008, 04:46 PM
I have to share with all of you my little secret. It's a good thing my French isn't that good, or I would probably have propositioned at least 5 different exotic French men to strip and model for me for these cards!

I saw so many beautiful men that I wanted to draw while there and all I could think of is how pretty they would be running through the woods naked and free. :D

12-05-2008, 05:19 PM
Hey it was France! They probably would have said yes if you made body gestures!

LOL Glad you had such a GREAT time there!!!!

12-05-2008, 05:49 PM
www.freetranslation.com is a wonderful thing. You type in the English, and it spits out whatever language you want. So, off you go back to France. I want to see the finish works, of course. ;)

12-05-2008, 06:27 PM
I've never met a man in my life who didn't understand if you wanted him to strip. XD

12-05-2008, 06:45 PM
Ha! Too true, lol

12-05-2008, 07:58 PM
Believe it or not, it's harder to get men to strip all the way than it is women. I've approached many a person in public to see if they'd model for me. And nearly every woman I've asked has said yes, while only a few men have agreed.

I usually present them with a business card, ask them to go to my website to view my art, and tell them about the model's contract. I then ask them to contact me later if they are interested. That way they can know I am a professional and that their privacy will be protected. Plus they can then choose to follow up with me. Either the men still think I am trying to pick them up, or they are more shy than you think. They are usually worried about getting a 'hard on' while modeling or not being 'large' enough.

Well thankfully I got an eye full to try to capture on paper later. :)

12-05-2008, 09:45 PM

Usually men are not quite as brazen as women! And its amazing how focused they really are on the evil penis. I mean, its a body part. Its okay. People also don't always get the point that as artists, we can make anything the size we want.

Hooray for artistic license!

12-05-2008, 10:05 PM
evil penis. I mean, its a body part.

Tee Hee Hee - it makes me want to draw an 'EVIL Penis' now.

12-05-2008, 10:14 PM
You can Jud, we;re all big girls here :D Heck, who chose Ursala V. For the fav artist PAT??? I hope someone DOES do it LOL

12-05-2008, 11:31 PM
See, I find that as a tattoo artist I have no trouble getting most people out of their clothes--and that's not even to work on them! lol It's like being a doctor or something. XD I went to a restaurant in boystown with a gay couple, and they liked the waiter, so I started talking to him about his tattoos and he was pulling his shirt off right at the table. My friends love me. *grin*

Regarding modelling, I think that men are less used to the idea of male nudes as an artistic subject than the idea of female nudes. Plus you see more of women showing themselves off in the media readily.

12-06-2008, 12:48 AM
I think men don't know how to handle being objectified in that way - even though it's for totally artistic reasons - most don't get that. They feel vulnerable rather than liberated.

However once they get past the bullshit - it's like Christmas - they want to unwrap all the time!!!! I had one model who was a Ranger - been shot at, jumped out of planes, all the high octane Ranger stuff. He finally agreed to model and it was such an adrenaline rush for him - he was stoked to do it all the time. God what an awesome body he had....

And their is a vanity issue here as well - I can get most gay men and African-American men to model as readily as a woman will. It's funny.

12-06-2008, 07:25 AM
You know, Anonevyl, you're totally right. That demographic are totally male modelling-whores if you ask. lol I had the very same experience with that. Though amusingly, we asked a cute little exotic-looking guy in eyeliner for a photo at a Fetish Festival and even though we're girls, his boyfriend leaped right into the picture all protective-like. They were adorable. XD And it turned out perfect for referencing, because they have an appropriate height difference for the character couple we were trying to get a ref for.

12-06-2008, 03:58 PM
Heck, who chose Ursala V. For the fav artist PAT???

Heh heh, that'd be me! ;)

The only picture the hubbs has ever drawn for me was a jumping stick figure with proper anatomical motion. We called it "Action Penis". I wish I still had it.

12-06-2008, 08:55 PM
Either the men still think I am trying to pick them up, or they are more shy than you think. They are usually worried about getting a 'hard on' while modeling or not being 'large' enough.

That's funny and likely true. Most male models I've drawn had a rather large penis! I've commented a couple of times to others that men must think it's a job requirement for modelling, lol.

12-06-2008, 10:32 PM
That's funny and likely true. Most male models I've drawn had a rather large penis! I've commented a couple of times to others that men must think it's a job requirement for modelling, lol.

And yet when you look at classical sculptures of male nudes... not so much. Poor guys.

As a mere spectator just checking this thread out for the first time, I'm thinking it should be renamed the "Ponder the Penis" swap. I'm cracking up... and a little jealous, wondering what the HECK kind of returns you're all gonna get on this one, and whether or not I want some for myself. lol...

12-07-2008, 06:36 AM
Oh, c'mon Shel! You know you want some...er, to.

12-09-2008, 10:23 PM
Hey Annie, I sketched a few cards for this last night and are happy with how they turned out! So Id love to join in the fun too, please.

12-09-2008, 10:43 PM
You're in Tracie! :jiggy:

12-13-2008, 02:44 PM
Okay... action penis! LOVE that! For some reason makes me think of a Superhero Penis.

"What's that?"

"Is it a plane?"

"No, its... Super Penis?!?!?"

I remember one male model we had in college that really threw off many new students to figure drawing sessions because he'd show up and get immediately naked and walk around everywhere. He just loved it!

Then there was the model that I laughed because he decided to go tanning for the first time in his very fair complected life and ended up bright red for the class. He thought it'd be something he need to do.

Perhaps the term 'modeling' is what throws people off. You start to think of muscle bound men selling a swatch ad.

I'm going to randomly ask people to do a 'figure study' instead and see what reaction I get. :D

12-13-2008, 05:16 PM
Annie, can you withdraw me? My creative energy has all been sapped by this stupid job market :(

12-13-2008, 05:23 PM
Sure! I'm so sorry that's happened  But when the stress is over and your brain has had a chance to recharge, all the creativity will flow back *hugs* :jiggy:

12-14-2008, 10:24 PM
Wow, this thread has taken an interesting turn, LOL. Damn... I almost had a penis in one of my cards, but decided to cover it with leaves, hahaha!

So, I have a question, since this will be my first big swap here! If I finish my 3 cards early can I send them to you, or should I wait until the due date is closer? And is it okay if I post them up here or should it be a surprise? :D

12-14-2008, 10:27 PM
Here are a couple of my boys. Commentary can be found in my gallery.

I'm finding that the stress of knowing I have to find a new job is making me want to lose myself in art instead, but everyone reacts differently. =/ I'm trying not to get scared because I have a few weeks to get my act together before this office closes, but it's hard not to fear change when I'm the sole supporter of myself and my spouse--whom I cannot sponsor if I have to go onto Unemployment, let alone that I won't be able to afford to live.

Anyhow... I refuse to let it get me down before I've even tried. I will prevail!

12-14-2008, 10:34 PM
Oh no! You WILL find a job! I'll send prayers and good vibes to you! :jiggy:

Those look FANTASTIC by the way! *is so excited*

12-14-2008, 11:52 PM
Oh no! You WILL find a job! I'll send prayers and good vibes to you! :jiggy:

Thank you, I really appreciate all the good vibes I can get. I really want to do something more in tune with my skills. It's time, dammit!

12-15-2008, 06:29 AM
*hugs adria and icekat*

May positive energy and prayers flow towards you. I know it may take a bit of time, but you will find something better! This is not a setback.. its a growth opportunity!

And IceKat, I LOVE the ram guy... he's awesome.

12-15-2008, 01:31 PM
Here are three Kings that I have completed for the swap. Im just in the middle of the last one.

I think Annie missed this post so I'll answer for you! You should mail your cards when they're done. Most hosts accept cards right away so that's not a prob.

As for posting to the gallery - that's up to you too. Most people post their cards as soon as they're done but if you want to surprise people, that's cool too. Whatever you want is the answer :)

12-15-2008, 04:22 PM
Hey Icekat - those cards are wonderful - I must have missed them in the card gallery.

And Purple - I really love the variety of Kings you are doing - great work!

12-17-2008, 09:52 PM
oooooOOooOOoooh.. I like the Centaur dude. Nice idea there, PurpleRealm. I like the different ways you chose to portray them.

12-18-2008, 09:17 PM
Wow this thread is cracking me up.

I'd love to work on an ezine!!

And as on male models, it really I think depends entirely on location to some extent. We do pro photography and have a bevvie of hunky guys willing to take it off, but ... we live near San Fran too ... likely makes a HUGE difference! LOL!

I'm wondering if I might be able to pull off six for this one!

12-30-2008, 01:26 AM
I FINALLY made a Nature King LOL Good old Jack Frost...erm..Ice in natureful right??

Grrr..scan is too light...

I used a really cool pic of Scorpio from Dirty Harry (has anyone noticed how amazing that actor's eyes are?) as a ref (awesomesauce shadows!)..but I don't think I got the expression quite right...not sure why.

12-30-2008, 02:28 AM
It's utterly awesome!

12-31-2008, 06:26 AM
Nice! He's so... Cool!!!! *pun hell for me*

Very nice job though.

And of course Ice is chock full of naturey goodness. *nods wisely*

12-31-2008, 03:59 PM
EQ - very nice indeed! Love the icy shawl over his shoulders.

12-31-2008, 07:51 PM
Cool stuff coming in for this trade!

01-01-2009, 08:50 PM
have just uploaded my Nature Kings. have tried to make them all as different from each other as i could. i will do one extra one if i can think of something interesting then post them out. Hope they're OK!

01-01-2009, 09:31 PM
Wolfhound - your images are incredible, I just wished you'd put them up larger. You can go up to 400 pixels wide (I think).

I love the variety of mediums and approaches on each card.

01-03-2009, 04:41 PM
Annie, I'm going to have to withdraw. I hate to do it, especially when I have 2 cards done but I'm not going to be able to make it. :(

01-03-2009, 04:48 PM
That's fine! No problem. You can always trade those with me later LOL :D

01-03-2009, 04:48 PM
yeah, lol...actually I should. I want your ice king or one like him!

01-03-2009, 04:50 PM
I can make you another (maybe a pair or something) and send you a print of the first one!

01-04-2009, 08:40 AM
Can I have your address please EraserQueen, my cards are finished :)

01-07-2009, 12:36 PM
http://www.illustratedatcs.com/forum/gallery/images/160/small/1_Night-King-w.jpg (http://www.illustratedatcs.com/forum/gallery/index.php?n=9970)

Heres my last, kind of androgenous, Nature King!

All four (one for you Eq, you pick!) will go postal on Saturday. :D

01-07-2009, 06:45 PM
Androgynous boys are yummy! Nice work, Purple!

01-08-2009, 09:55 AM
Here`s my last two nature "kings"..... ehem.
They look a lot better irl than on this picture. The flash took away the details and some colors. I think these turned out a little more manly than the first two... hopefully :twitcy:

My favourite is the one with the horns.

01-08-2009, 09:35 PM
Got cards from HeavenPhoenix today! Thanks!

01-08-2009, 10:59 PM
Last two done. I'm going to pop the boys into the mail tonight so they get underway. ^^ If we can work on the zine maybe in a while I'll be more productive. I'm just having a lot of stress with job hunting at the moment. I'm the sole supporter of myself and my spouse (she's immigrating and isn't allowed to work yet), and we're being laid off at the end of the month. But I really want to do the project once things are settled.

01-09-2009, 12:54 AM
Cool cards all of you!

Icekat: I totally understand! The cards aren't going any where and neither are we! You guys can start working on your bits when ever you want, but the final product has no deadline, so no worries! And good luck with your job, think of it as getting a better job somewhere else, it really helps you get through the tough stuff.

01-09-2009, 01:17 AM
Great job, Moonfairy! Sorry, I missed them earlier.

EQ, thanks. I'm trying to visualize what I really want to be doing. It helps when I don't get callbacks on all the crappy jobs telemarketing--the ones that pay decent are of course harder to get. lol If I'm going to do something I hate, it better pay well. But aside from trying to get something to pay the bills, I have some tricks up my sleeve for entrepreneurial efforts. Those just take longer. ^^

01-10-2009, 10:50 PM
Can I still join in? I have at least 3 cards done.

01-11-2009, 09:02 PM
Ooooh so many cool cards are coming in!! This swap is so awesome. I've been slackin' on my third card though, eep!

01-14-2009, 08:36 PM
Awesomesauce cards from IceKat came today! :jiggy:

01-15-2009, 07:37 AM
Woot! I know you'll take care of my babies. *grin* Good thing they're all in plastic.

01-15-2009, 02:58 PM
Awesome cards there Icekat, I really love the guy with the antlers. Nice.

'Do I make you horny baby?"

Antler dude- "Not really. I'm naturally like this".

I gotta go get ready for my day job. *pout sigh*

01-15-2009, 08:21 PM

Are we going to put some of the jokes in our ezine too? This thread has been a riot!

01-16-2009, 12:16 AM

There's a fun idea. Put little cartoons in there with our forum jokes.

01-16-2009, 03:32 PM
O.K. My Kings are ready. I sent it today. You can see in my gallery...

01-19-2009, 11:06 AM
My last nature king just uploaded, he is an extra one to make sure the three best get swapped! I did two attempts at this one as the first one went all patchy!

01-19-2009, 01:47 PM
I'm sorry, EQ, I have to withdraw.. It's been a rough few weeks :(

01-19-2009, 03:01 PM
:hugs Ms. Sarah the Muppet:

I think we've been there, no matter what it is! I send you good feelies your way.

01-19-2009, 04:11 PM
No worries themuppet! We have all been there! (several times  lol)

01-19-2009, 04:17 PM
Thanks amber *return hugs*

I have had a house full of kids coating me with various bodily fluids for the last week or so, my husband is working out of town, I'm tired of the weather being so flippin' cold and refuse to leave the house. I'm longing for spring something horrible!

thanks for understanding, EQ! I signed up for all these swaps before the holidays and the holidays kicked my hiney! I'm trying to get back in the swing of things but it's seriously laborious.

Whine whine whine! lol

Wolfhound, your cards are aweeeeeesome! Seriously killer.

01-20-2009, 12:08 AM
I hear ya about the cold.

I try hard not to whine.. but...

01-20-2009, 01:43 AM
Yeah, the cold sucks I'm only slightly south of themuppet

Global warming? They need to call it GLOBAL FREEZING.

01-20-2009, 04:44 AM
I love the new fire card posted! As a fire spirit, I approve that message!

01-20-2009, 08:34 AM
Okay, folks, this is sooooo NSFW, but so very appropriate to this theme that I just had to post it. Slap my hand later if I've been naughty.

NSFW!!!!!!!!!!! Yummy Stag King (http://www.toxicboy.net/paulo18.jpg) NSFW!!!!!!!!!!!

01-20-2009, 02:33 PM
LOL I had no idea what NSFW meant, but I clicked the link and I think I figured it out!. That is a really cool costume, and it's ALWAYS fun to see a guy with antlers!

01-20-2009, 02:49 PM
Antler dude! That is very kewl. How they did his face intrigues me though.

01-20-2009, 11:09 PM
I have cards from Moonfairy, Canuckdesz and Purplerealm! YAY!

01-20-2009, 11:10 PM
Amber: yeah, it's like they emphasized the shape of a deer's head using that white paint stuff...

01-20-2009, 11:24 PM
Antler dude! That is very kewl. How they did his face intrigues me though.

Face? Oh... yeah... His face...

01-21-2009, 04:50 AM
Face? Oh... yeah... His face...

Yes.. there is a face.. XD

01-21-2009, 02:35 PM
Yay - glad my Kings arrived safe and sound!

As for the 'Yummy Stag King'........all I can say is OMGoodness!!!!!

01-21-2009, 03:48 PM
I almost wish he wasn't naked - he doesn't have the most attractive pecker

Seriously, he's all glossy and shiny and rich golden colors until you get to "IT". The photographer should have changed the pose or something to accommodate the movement of the eyes.

But don't get me wrong - he's darn pretty to say the least!

01-21-2009, 11:21 PM
Sadly I might need to withdraw - I only have two of them sketched out so far and with having to move and trying to unpack and keeping up with work and everything else, I am not sure I could have them mailed by the 31st. :(

01-21-2009, 11:29 PM
Well, Hosts have a 2 week grace period, if you think you can mail them by the 7th of feb, that is okay :) And you can just send the two if you want. Don't feel stressed, I can still withdraw you, just know that that option is there :)

01-22-2009, 03:03 AM
Oh my god WAIT. Is January 31st the day they need to be postmarked or the day they need to arrive to you? :O I'm such a n00b for asking, I know. But I'm kind of flipping out over my last card because I thought it had to get to you by the 31st!

I got so busy all of a sudden, I shouldn't have procrastinated! Wah.

01-22-2009, 03:32 AM
Opps, sorry! I didn't specify! Usually it means have it to me by that date. :) but like I said, hosts have a two week grace period, so if I get it before Feb 7th, you should be good :) No matter what, I have to get returns out within two weeks of the due date :)

01-24-2009, 11:38 PM
I'm sorry, all. I'm going to have to withdraw from this swap. I have been ill and then my dear hubby caught it. So sorry!!! Please forgive. :(

01-25-2009, 12:18 AM
Oh no! Please feel better soon! *hugs*

01-26-2009, 12:48 AM
Feel the nature of the kings! LOL

They shall fly off tomorrow!

01-26-2009, 12:50 AM
YAY! Can't wait! The cards for this swap are SO COOL XD

01-26-2009, 04:19 AM
Dionysos (I'm assuming it's him, or a close pal lol) looks so great! Holy tongue action there, ambermarie! XD

01-26-2009, 05:22 PM
Shyeaaah... I dunno why, but tongues became a 'theme' in these cards.

Except for the fourth one I just did this morning as a quickie. LOL So, you get to choose one EQ! First time I've gotten a fourth done for a swap.

I'll post him when I get home from work. :D

01-27-2009, 08:30 PM
Hmmmmmm......... it's 78 degrees here right now. Last Friday it was 80.

Yeah, the cold sucks I'm only slightly south of themuppet

Global warming? They need to call it GLOBAL FREEZING.

01-27-2009, 08:42 PM
Oh yeah rub it in :P

It's actually 20 here right now though... Freakin' heat wave!

01-27-2009, 09:35 PM
I have wolfhounds cards! YAY! Thank you!

themuppet: It's 27 degrees here near the PA border :P

01-27-2009, 09:41 PM
Aw lucky! It's down to 19 now.. Amazing what a difference 70-ish miles makes, eh?

01-28-2009, 01:49 AM
Try 2 degrees in Minnesota! Now that's a heat wave considering it was below zero like 20 below for the past several weeks!

01-28-2009, 01:42 PM
Ohhhhhhhh yeah... I remember those days! I lived in ND for a while and remember it not getting above -10 for a week... Poor you! I've been pleading to these nature kings for spring, but they're not listening. ;)

01-28-2009, 05:18 PM
*still whiny over her 40 degrees*

01-28-2009, 05:31 PM
We're hitting 77 today, but expected a low of 28 by tomorrow night. In Savannah, the temperature can vary from 80 to 20 in any given day or two. It makes dressing for the weather rather challenging to say the least. And people are sick all the time trying to adapt.

Our cards went out today - I held Anonevyl up (in case they arrive late - only I should get 20 lashes with a wet noodle - she's off the hook). And I hope everyone likes them - I had to use printer paper as I couldn't find anything else. In case you're interested, printer paper sucks for prisma pencils. DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME!

01-28-2009, 08:34 PM
Jud, your guys look hot regardless!

01-28-2009, 08:57 PM
Thanks. I really did struggle with that paper. First off, it makes pencils feel like stencils or like the 2B lead I am using is actually a 6H. Then there is the prisma colored pencils. Some colors change, they all go on too soft, they won't blend, and of course, you can't erase a single thing. But the minute you press down too hard, whammoo! It digs into the paper leaving this dent, goes WAAY too dark and then the cussing begins. If I had more time and hadn't created such a fun sketch, I would have started over.

I'm glad my frustrations didn't translate too badly.

01-31-2009, 04:18 AM
Since you brought this up about the colored pencils...what paper is best for prismacolor pencils? I've used a lot of different paper, but I'd like to hear from everyone what kind they prefer and why.

01-31-2009, 06:23 AM
Hey Joy - do you mind if we open this discussion up in the Art Forums? I think many people could benefit from the info.

01-31-2009, 06:02 PM
:heads over to see the paper thread and throw in her $5 worth:

02-01-2009, 10:11 PM
I have to pull out - bunch of downsizing at work - was told last week in three months I might not have a job or only part time or they might keep me.

So I'm focusing on fighting for my job and just haven't had a shred of time for art.

Sucks cuz I have all this art in me and no way to get it out except through doodles. LOL.

I haven't even had time to finish the ones that are practically done. :(

I'm sorry!!

02-01-2009, 11:20 PM
That's okay! Just as long as you promise to trade with me when you get your art mojo back LOL. Sorry about the work stress, We've all been there, so I understand completely!

02-02-2009, 03:54 PM
Hey EQ - did you get Anonevyl and my cards yet? They should have arrived Sat at the latest.

02-02-2009, 03:56 PM
No they aren't here yet, but I do have the grace period! They will probably get here today, the delay may be due to the fact that we've had crappy weather lately

02-02-2009, 07:42 PM
I was wondering about that! My cards should've made their way by now as well.

And Faerydae! We send good job mojo thoughts to you! May you be able to get the art out when you can!

02-02-2009, 07:58 PM
Amber, yes, I have your cards! Thanks for the extra :jiggy:

02-02-2009, 10:13 PM
Awesome freakin' possum! You are most welcome for the extra. I didn't choose one for you, btw, I figured you could choose.

02-03-2009, 11:02 PM
I have cards from Anne and Jud! YAY!

Just waiting on one more set, which are in the mail.

I'm going to go and scan everyone's cards (I'll let you know though PM also) for the Zine. And possibly a gallery feature in ArtTrader Magazine!

02-04-2009, 01:19 AM
I'm not sure if you were referring to my cards...but they did go in the mail on Monday. Here is a preview of my kings.

02-04-2009, 01:28 AM
Cool Joy! :jiggy:

I think I should have said I'm waiting on three LOL, but the participants have communicated to me and I now they will come before the grace period is over!

02-04-2009, 02:51 AM
Yeah!! I sent my cards out today! OMG I can't believe I cut it so close. Sorry guys! Who knew it could take more than a month to come up with three cards *sob* Heh!

Now I just need to get motivated and edit the scans :D

02-04-2009, 04:57 AM
Wow Joy! Those turned out fabulous! Great job. I love the guy with the flowers. Just great.

02-05-2009, 11:18 PM
Cards from overlordu came today! :jiggy:

02-06-2009, 04:23 AM
Hey Overlordu, you need to post your cards so we can drool :d

02-09-2009, 03:28 PM
Cards from Joy came Sat! Still waiting for Delores' cards, but I'll swap out at the end of the week :)

02-09-2009, 06:31 PM
Hey EQ, if I send you my new address, would you mind re-addressing mine? I just remembered that and I'd rather keep from going into forward-ville.

I'll pm ya my new one and you can do as you like! :D

02-09-2009, 06:41 PM
I got your PM! I've noted it on the envelope! :jiggy:

02-11-2009, 03:18 AM
I finally uploaded my cards! Woo! I'm too lazy.

http://www.illustratedatcs.com/forum/gallery/images/498/small/1_atc_nepenthe.JPG (http://www.illustratedatcs.com/forum/gallery/index.php?n=10609) http://www.illustratedatcs.com/forum/gallery/images/498/small/1_atc_wish.jpg (http://www.illustratedatcs.com/forum/gallery/index.php?n=10610) http://www.illustratedatcs.com/forum/gallery/images/498/small/1_atc_regret.jpg (http://www.illustratedatcs.com/forum/gallery/index.php?n=10611)

They're more like Nature Boys. Heheheheh...

02-11-2009, 07:38 AM
Oh, Overlordu, that first one in green is just heavenly. *drags him home by the tail* If he hasn't got a tail... I'll improvise! ;)

02-11-2009, 06:40 PM
Great stuff - wouldn't mind one of these in my envelope :swoon:.... If Icekat hasn't run off with him ;)

02-12-2009, 12:32 AM
Oh yes. I won't even keep him in the closet like I do with Bill Kaulitz. XD

02-12-2009, 01:21 AM
Stand in line IceKat - I've already got a hold of one of those horns

02-18-2009, 11:56 PM
WOOO HOOOO!!!!! These cards have been swapped and SENT!! YAY!

Thanks you awesome people for playing! I didn't get Delores' cards, I hope it's because she felt it was too late to send them, and that they didn't get lost or something!

02-19-2009, 01:08 AM
omigosh I'm going to have to stalk the mailman hardcore starting next week! *does the peepee dance*

02-19-2009, 08:03 PM

02-22-2009, 03:15 AM
I got stunning wonderful and amazing cards from the most gracious and excellent host EraserQueen, Overlordu, and Ambermarie.

Jud's came with mine and I got a peek at hers. I might kill her and keep them all for myself. Shhhhh....don't tell.....

02-22-2009, 03:52 PM

lol Jud!

I think if I were to do another set, I'd try for some more themes. My head was really in the woods this time. Maybe it was the time of year making me long for some foliage. lol I might see if I get a chance to work on some anyhow in hopes that round 2 comes about. You know, in between the millions of other things I have to do. o.o There's always time for naked men frolicking in the woods!
