View Full Version : Anyone interested in an Open (in your own style) Skinny Page swap?

I was wondering if anyone has an interest in participating in a mixed media (primarily hand drawn, of course) skinny page (3x8) swap? I thought it would be fun to see everyone's take on this format and to shake it up a little.

Some of the mail art swaps will be coming to a close @ the end of the year and I thought this would be fun - with a due date @ March 1. Something to help get us through the dark cold winter evenings.

Let me know your thoughts

Sounds great, I really haven't been doing these things even though I make books a lot, eh.

I'd be interested :)

Me too. Is this your interest list, or your sign up list? If I have to make 37 pages, I might reconsider... lol...

Hey PB,

If there's solid interest - I'll start a swap thread for signups. I was thinking that we could keep it open and have a 4/4 or 8/8 trade on this to make it manageable for folks. I would also be willing to do 12/12 if there are enough swap players . . .

I would be interested, although all of my skinny pages have been 3x7" so far.

Oops - is 3 x 7 the standard size? I 've seen 3 x 8 and 3.5 x 7 also.

I would be just fine with going with 3 x 7 if you already have your collection sized to 3 x 7. I'm just interested in working in a "new" tall size to change things up a little :)

Anyone else have input on the size variations or preferences?

I don't really know what the standard size is--I don't think there is one, lol. I already have my collection at 3x7 so I'd prefer that, but I'm open in the end.

I don't care about standards, I like everything (except the standards, eh! oh well).

I already have some 3x7...but I doubt I'd be displaying them by theme :) So I'll go with whatever.

Does it have to be mixed media? Does anyone have a sample of a 'skinny' pages they can post for those of us not certain what you are talking about? Is this like the thick 3-D books you all worked on in the past?

I think doing a different format would be such a wonderful break from the norm.

Mixed media can be as simple as doing watercolor washes over ink drawings and adding acrylic for highlights Jud!

And I made a few here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/littleboots/page2/

Ooooo - those are cool! I love the painterly style you gave them.

And duh! I suppose on this site when I see 'Mixed Media' I think of the chunky books. LOL!

Thanks. I'd love to join when you have the swap up. I already have some great designs.

Well - Great! It looks like there's some definite interest. I'll change this into a actual swap with signup and real specs for the swap.

We'll go with 3x7 since several folks have collections in those sizes already and everyone else seems open.

Thanks for the feedback and interest everyone!
