View Full Version : Project for my Son :)

Okay, so this isn't for ATCs - so, I hope that I haven't placed it in the wrong forum.

What I'm looking for is 4x4 inch pieces instead of standard art card size. What I want to do is make a mini scrapbook type album for my almost-two-year-old son. It'll have pictures and words regarding all sorts of things like numbers, letters, colours, shapes. Right now I'm just going to start with colours. I thought, though, that it would be more fun if all the different illustrations were done by you guys instead of all just by me.

If you would like to participate, I am offering a custom art card for every page that you sign up for. But art cards are smaller than the pages I'm asking for.. so, I guess I could offer two art cards per page if that sounds more fair. Okay, if anyone here collects 4x4 art, I would definitely match your 4x4 with a custom 4x4 from myself. So, yeah, when you respond, please tell me what you'd like in return! ^.^

I know I don't have an itrader rating here, yet, seeing as I am quite new. But I do have some accumulated at AFA forum if you want to check up on me. I'm 'wolftlou' there... Wolfgang Tlouey is a character I made up in highschool and so I have been going by that name online ever since. Tlouey is what most people online call me for short. Link to my itrader: http://www.atcsforall.com/forum/itrader.php?u=2502 I'm too new to this forum to have any iTrader stuff here, yet, but hopefully a few people will be receiving their cards soon.

So, I'm not sure if I'm going to adhere the pages to coasters and turn it into a coaster album or if I'm going to find a 4x4 album with 4x4 page protectors and slide them in there. It depends on what I can find and what I can afford. So, to give me room for such options, I'd like the paper not to be -overly- thick, just thick enough to support your media.... nothing too much thicker than 140lb, please. Feel free to do mixed media if that's what floats your boat, but no thick embellishments or little things that could chip or break off (this IS for a two year old to look at, after all).

This isn't a big rush, it is an ongoing project that I would like to start up. But I am an excitable person, so I woooould love to see results not TOO long after a person has signed up. But again, no real due date.. hopefully you get it finished and mailed out within 2008, though. LoL.

Okay so, because I want all the pages to be similar and slightly uniform. Please do one page per colour. Please don't put the word on the page.. only the drawing that shows off that colour.

Because Jayden, my son, is only two, he would prefer 1 subject be the main image of each page. I'm sure you could do some lovely drawings/paintings/collages/whatever showing off many things of that colour... but it would be better for him if you just had one recognizable thing and perhaps some other things in the background.

Examples... you chose red, so you drew a red fire engine... or... you chose green, so you drew a big tractor... or... you chose blue, so you drew a blue whale.... or... you chose orange, so you drew a orange fox. On the page across from it, I will put text.. like "RED; The Fire Engine is RED". But you don't have to worry about that, I'll do that myself when I make the booklet.

So, if you want to participate, please respond with what you want to do. I have a list below of what colours I want at this time. Also, when you respond, please also tell me what art card(s) you want from me. It'll probably be easiest for me to keep track of everything in this thread than through a bunch of PM's. Thanks.

Each gets its own page:

RED - Lagaz
YELLOW - EraserQueen
BLUE - altermyworld
ORANGE - lemurkat
GREEN - jklee
PURPLE - adriayna
PINK - Amerasu
TURQUOISE - OriginalYouth
BROWN - Chronata
BLACK - potbellyarts
WHITE - Patti
GREY - EraserQueen

Thanks SO much to anyone who volunteers!

Oh, and BTW, Jayden is obsessed with trucks and cars... so, if you find them particularly fun, inspiring, or easy to draw, pleeeease draw them! LOL! But fruit, veggies, animals, flowers, plants...and whatever else will be great too! As long as its something he'll recognize, nothing too obscure. And it doesn't necessarily have to be a realistic colour for that thing... I'm sure Jayden would get a kick out of pink lizards and purple cows - even if potentially confusing, lol!

Thanks again :D

I'll give it a whirl! I'd love to take pink.

Lots of people here collect 4x4s too so you could always do a 1/1 4x4 trade rather than 2 ATCs! Just a thought :)

I'll take Red Tlouey!
How 'bout a classic car? I've been dying to make classic car cards as ATCs I've just not got around to it. And 4x4 would give me even more space to draw on :)

From you 2 ATCs would be awesome...about anything!

Tlouey
09-03-2008, 02:55 AM
we are a Show N Shine family.. so a classic car would be splendid!!
Thanks!

I'd love to play! I did some like this for Liverson, her son turned 2 last month.

I DO collect 4x4s, you can make one in any of these themes:
-black/white
-doors
-creativity and art
-any monochromatic color scheme.

Orange, black or white is fine. Since you dont' have 'turquoise' on there. :)

Tlouey
09-03-2008, 03:13 AM
if youd rather do a turquoise one, that'd be fun! :)
thanks

I'll probably do a purple mountain landscape. I also have 4x4"s, if you prefer that.

Themes: Black & White
Turquoise
Birds
Trees (my favorite theme!)
Garden Gnomes
Halloween
houses (with a roof extending above 4")

What did you want in return?

lemurkat
09-07-2008, 07:48 PM
Hrm, I don't know. I've made a third card for you too. Just design me a fourth ATC for our trade. If that's okay?

Here's the pumpkin kid.

No takers for White or Grey? Is it really so hard to get ideas for white and grey?

Little Sheep is White... Swan is White... Unicorn is white... Polar Bear is White...Snowflakes are White... Mountain Goat is white... The new Corvette down the street is white ;)

Rabbit is Grey... Mouse is Grey... Horse is Grey... Wolf is Grey... Llama is Grey... Rain Clouds are Grey... Donkey is Grey... Rhino is Grey... Hippo is Grey... Elephant is Grey... Shark is grey... :p

Okay... I don't mind doing White and Grey if no one else wants to sign up for them, haha.. obviously, I have some ideas to work with. Anyway, thanks to everyone who signed up for one of these. I'm excited to see what you all come up with for your colours. I am working on a 4x4 alphabet book for my son right now... boy oh boy, so many pages!

lemurkat
09-12-2008, 10:04 AM
My main problem with white is that I tend to shade it using blue and yellow and grey and I don't want to confuse the poor kid with too much colour! I coulda done grey, but orange seemed so much more fun ^^

Kat

Tlouey
09-12-2008, 03:47 PM
yeah, thats a good point... white definitely is hard to shade and keep it white. Im glad you did orange, though, your pumpkin is cuuute

EraserQueen
09-12-2008, 03:52 PM
I don't know if you want the same person making two ;)

Tlouey

If so let me know and I'll ship it off Monday!

Patti

I'm new here too, but I'd be happy to do a page for your boy. since only white and grey are left, I guess I could handle white. I just won't put in too much shading colors. <GG> Be ok if the page itself is not white? So the white object shows up better?

Tlouey
09-14-2008, 02:01 PM
If the object were just white, that would definitely be fine!! Thanks for signing up!!

potbellyarts: THAT IS GREAT! I love it! Thank you :) :)

potbellyarts
09-14-2008, 07:49 PM
You are welcome!! I'll pop it in the post Monday. Lemme see... do I have your address...?? Nope! Please PM me with it; I'll PM you, too, in case you don't see this.

Anything along those lines? Oh, and in ATC form please?? :D

I can do a gray 4x4 for you two...the ATCs I'm asking for in return will probably have a lot of detail, so I'll just do a gray page for you as a gift! :D

Ok...FINALLY...I finished a Brown Thing
actually I did two...because I wasn't so sure of the "high concept" piece that the first one shaped up to be! LOL (can you tell I don't normally do vehicles?)

I will send them both to you, and you can take your pick which one you wanna use...

The Mud Spattered Cement Truck...or the Tree.

What's pre-cute paper? And after you're done with it, is it called post-cute paper? So it's not cute anymore? ;)
